In addition to WM Capture's high speed capture technology, the program also includes a proprietary MPEG-2 codec for even more outstanding picture quality. Other screen capture programs cannot process video data fast enough to make acceptable videos. WM Capture's special design uses the most advanced high-speed video processing technology, and the results are amazing. Even the toughest video types like full motion sports play back perfectly.
To make it easy to capture a portion of your screen, WM Capture can often automatically locate the region of your screen where video will be played. Or, you can choose to mark an area of the screen manually by moving markers yourself. Either way, setting up your recording area is a snap. The first time you run WM Capture, you'll need to make sure you can record audio and video properly. WM Capture will make it's best guess as to what the audio settings should be, but you can override them if you like. Once the Audio Source and Input are selected, click Test to ensure you can record audio. After a few seconds, if the test is successful, click OK to save the audio settings. Once the audio parameters are set, you can focus on recording videos. To start recording videos you need to mark a region of the screen to record, and then you can start, stop or pause recording. Once you've finished recording, you can see your last recorded video by simply clicking Play.

Did not record the area I needed. I selected the area, but the video would not record. It just showed up as a pink screen. May be the proprietary format of the video itself.

After I restarted my computer I got an AppCrash and a Windows error message saying: "Windows Media Center Receiver Service stopped working and was closed......A problem caused the application to stop working incorrectly. Windows will notifiy you if a solution is available.
I have Windows Vista, Service Pack 2 and everything is up to date. I am looking for a support forum to check for futher solutions. -
"Great Recording Software"

I've never seen a product that makes high quality videos for Youtube, it does it perfectly and it looks really good, try it and then buy it. It's presets for a Dual Core PC work perfectly, and it makes them HD, now be prepared for a CPU sucker though
Cons
Most recorders take up quite a bit of CPU, this one is no different at the most it is 50 to 60 CPU, nothing more on a Dual Core.
Summary
This is a great product if your a huge video recorder and the HD settings are basically set, but Camstudio is the lighter choice and you can find many settings and a codec to go along with it, get this software if you wish to make DVD looking movies, may not be perfect, but when you tweak it the way you want it is pretty good, plus at the preset for Dual Core Youtube minimum is a 10 minute video, a ten minute video for this software in WMV has a size of 90 MB that is very small for the quality that you get out of the product, you should definitely consider getting this product.

Summary
This is a great software for those that want to capture streaming media off the web. It maintains great picture quality and audio. However, you do have to purchase the software if you want to record longer a clip for longer than 2 minutes. And 40 dollars is a bit pricey even for a nice program like this.

A nice and simple screen recorder that record well. Video quality is above average and is saved as an MPG file. Recorded videos are saved in a folder. Good quality videos.

Interface is a little tawdry. I find this product to be a little unstable at times.

Good product, but a little expensive like most screen recorders. It gets the job done and its videos that are recorded are even clearer than other screen recording products that I've used. So far, it's my favorite screen recorder. Get it! You'll like it.
