VirtualLab Data Recovery is a modular data and partition recovery tool from BinaryBiz. VirtualLab recovers lost, damaged, or deleted files and partitions, including Mac partitions, as well as deleted e-mail and photos. It can also recover CD and DVD data in many cases. This powerful suite even includes a RAID Recovery tool. It works on regular hard drives as well as removable and flash drives. While the program is free to try, it won't recover any data. The least expensive licensed version recovers up to 100MB of data. License upgrades are available, depending on how much data you need to recover. The trial introduces VirtualLab's features and capabilities, though, and gives you the opportunity to compare them with freeware recovery tools. We tried it in Windows 7.
VirtualLab's colorful, compact start screen displays its seven Recovery Modules in tilelike icons, together with Account and Support Center links. However, clicking the Support Center link took us to an Apache Server test page. We found the support resources, including a manual, by browsing directly to the developer's Web site. VirtualLab's compact user interface also lists the seven tools to the left of a main window that displays scan results. We sampled VirtualLab's tools for recovering deleted or lost files, e-mail messages, and images; its partition recovery tool; and even the Mac and RAID tools. The program scans fast and displays its results clearly. It can scan and recover physical and logical partitions -- at least, the full version claims the capability.
We have no problem recommending that you try VirtualLab Data Recovery to see if its toolkit has what you need. Users who need to recover a lot of data more often than occasionally will probably be more interested in this tool's full capabilities, though many home users may turn to VirtualLab if one of the many freeware data recovery utilities isn't up to the task. The home version only recovers 100MB of data, but unless you're talking about media files, that's a lot of data. For instance, if you accidentally deleted your mortgage files, VirtualLab's license might not seem like much.

If you buy the wrong level it will cost more than the next click up to try to get it right. Be absolutely certain of their descriptions before you make a move. Creating an account password was impossible without first knowing the password. Circular. Tip: reset the non-existent password to create one. Support is automated and unhelpful.

I am a freelance Graphic Designer and Web Developer. I was using a Western Digital External fire-wire HD, to store all of my Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks, Flash, Dream-weaver, as well as all of our business documents, ie Word, Excel, Access, etc. On Friday, I lost the entire drive, and all of the contents. I am talking about over 130 Gb of information. I could not sleep and worked on the drive for over 34 hours. I downloaded VirtualLab Data Recovery on Saturday, and it absolutely 100% recovered all of the data from the hard drive. The MBR was corrupt, and I even formatted the drive, but your program still found 100% of the data, I assumed our business would have otherwise lost. At one point, I was going to take the drive to a data recovery specialist, but your program, literally saved my partner and I from suffering a loss of our invaluable data and personal files.

I can't thank you enough for saving my life, not only did I get back my personal stuff but all my business documents as well and I was right in the middle of a court case with all my moving papers on the damaged drive and nowhere to turn but back to my desk to start over. This time I was lucky, I now have a solid triple back up plan in place which includes keeping a copy of Virtual Lab Data Recovery at the ready.

Your software has recovered all my files in the sector mode search on an unreadable dynamic volume -as described by windows, which had two partitions with important data throughout the years. I have made a hasty movement and in a windows XP instalator I saw an unpartitioned 20GB space and a dynamic volume. I made a partition of that 20GB, but it was added to the dynamic volume, and in windows other two partitions discontinued to be visible on the only computer that has seen them so far !! My legs got soft. And here you guys came to recover all my critical data ;-)

Summary
Tried several other products that promised results, one didn't find anything, the other just a smattering of files. VirtualLab Data Recovery, though a little unintuitive did the job. I had mistakenly installed XP pro over the partition where 15 years of files - Kids mp3, pics, excel, word docs, text files...I wasn't watching. It did a format, then installed over all my stuff. This program brought back (in great condition) 98% of all of it.

I have never written down my opinion before but this worked to well not to. I formatted and partitioned the wrong hard drive. VirtualLab Data Recovery found everything and restored it. Zip files, mpegs, mps word and excel documents
