VirtualLab Data Recovery is a modular data and partition recovery tool from BinaryBiz. VirtualLab recovers lost, damaged, or deleted files and partitions, including Mac partitions, as well as deleted e-mail and photos. It can also recover CD and DVD data in many cases. This powerful suite even includes a RAID Recovery tool. It works on regular hard drives as well as removable and flash drives. While the program is free to try, it won't recover any data. The least expensive licensed version recovers up to 100MB of data. License upgrades are available, depending on how much data you need to recover. The trial introduces VirtualLab's features and capabilities, though, and gives you the opportunity to compare them with freeware recovery tools. We tried it in Windows 7.
VirtualLab's colorful, compact start screen displays its seven Recovery Modules in tilelike icons, together with Account and Support Center links. However, clicking the Support Center link took us to an Apache Server test page. We found the support resources, including a manual, by browsing directly to the developer's Web site. VirtualLab's compact user interface also lists the seven tools to the left of a main window that displays scan results. We sampled VirtualLab's tools for recovering deleted or lost files, e-mail messages, and images; its partition recovery tool; and even the Mac and RAID tools. The program scans fast and displays its results clearly. It can scan and recover physical and logical partitions -- at least, the full version claims the capability.
We have no problem recommending that you try VirtualLab Data Recovery to see if its toolkit has what you need. Users who need to recover a lot of data more often than occasionally will probably be more interested in this tool's full capabilities, though many home users may turn to VirtualLab if one of the many freeware data recovery utilities isn't up to the task. The home version only recovers 100MB of data, but unless you're talking about media files, that's a lot of data. For instance, if you accidentally deleted your mortgage files, VirtualLab's license might not seem like much.

"It saved my ass"

Pros
VirtualLab Data Recovery has already saved my bacon in several situations, and the most surprising was that it recovered some files that I had accidentally deleted on a digital voice recorder! Every time I've used it, I have been pleasantly surprised. That is not the case with most of the software that I've purchased and I'm not that easy to please.

This program is a life saver! We were unable to access a backup DVD to restore files and pics (including our daughters recent wedding pictures). We wasted our money on recover software bought at a local office supply store; it did absolutely nothing for us. We were hesitant to purchase VirtualLab Data Recovery online thinking it will be a waste of money like the other software, but after reading some reviews we decided to go ahead and are extremely happy that we did

I do want other people who are considering your product to know that it works well. I had my data on a raid set with complete copies of my information stored two discs. When my raid crashed, I tried to restore it and accidentally pushed a wrong button. I then had to reinstall my operating system. Because raid has been such a problem, I reinstalled Windows, in a standard, non-raid setting, in its own partition. When I was finished, Windows wouldn't recognize the information on the rest of my hard drives. I had to reset the partitions to get windows to acknowledge them, but it still wouldn't see my files. I used a trial version of a competitor first. Their program told me that I had lost almost all of my data including my pictures. VirtualLab Data Recovery trial worked well, so I bought it. I now have all my files back in good working order.

I used Virtual Lab Data Recovery and I was able to recover absolutely everything. Make sure you have another hard disk drive so you can copy the recovered files. Congratulations to the programmers, it's a great job which will render great services to those who are in desperate situations with their supposedly lost data!

Unknowingly I formatted my External hard disk. Virtual Lab Data Recovery tool recovered my complete data of around 120GB within some hours. It is the king among other software that do similar job.

Summary
When installing Windows 7 I deleted the partition on the disk, created a new one and formatted it twice in order to get a very clean new installation. As soon as the installation finished we realized all information stored in Outlook 2007(outlook.pst) was "gone". Two years of customer contacts, quotes, etc. were LOST !!!! After hours of reading about recovery software in the internet we choose Virtual Lab Data Recovery. This software is truly amazing, we were able to recover every mail and every detail of the information in outlook.pst

Thank You Thank You I really appreciate your product and how it saved my life. I am a teacher and my hard drive had gotten run over. (That's another story). All of my school files from the last 4 years where on that hard drive. Virtual Lab Data Recovery was able to recover all the files in a timely manner, and at a reasonable cost

The program is very easy to use and recovered all of my files from a large external HD that Windows 7 refused to recognize a partition on when I upgraded my hardware.
Cons
Scan process is VERY slow--five days to scan a 4TB drive with about 250 gigs of data on it (USB 3.0 external). Buying process is clunky. There is a middleman who must approve your payment and send an update to Virtual Lab before the activation code is sent. They also add a $4.95 service fee to the purchase.
