"can get something out of your swf file - even if that something is not great"
Version: Sothink SWF Decompiler 4.1
Pros
30 days full trial version. Will let you save a non-watermarked file even during the trial period.
Cons
I had a hard drive crash and ended up with a corrupted flash file. This software was able to create a FLA file from the SWF file I had published on the internet. But the file it created was not great.
The software did not seem to be able to handle images that had been skewed and rotated. Many ended up with widths of 0 or all sorts of strange distortions, an the only way I could fix them was re-importing them. (it particularly seemed to dislike any image flipped left to right - they all disappeared). Instances of "movie clips" did not play when the file was re-published and there were all sorts of weird bugs.
I do now have something I can use to start recreating my lost file, for which I am grateful, but it is still going to be a lot of work to remake it.
