• Good product - worth the cost!

  Pros

  Gets your files back, easy to use, very thorough in looking for deleted files. Worked to find files even after I paid a computer shop to find lost files. Wish I wouldn't have taken it to the shop as this was alot cheaper.

  Cons

  using on my old xp machine - sometimes it "forgets" that I actually purchased it, but easy enough to fix.

  Summary

  Highly recommend this if you need data recovery.

• It didnt work

  It recovered some files (poorly).

  Crashed on one drive and froze on the other. Will let you WASTE your time running in trial on virtual machine, but will not save the files because you cant register on virtual machine.

  Summary

  I needed to recover two of my friend's SATA drives that were 250 and 300 GB. So first I installed this and ran it on my VMWware (Windows 7 - 64) on my MacBook Pro. The program allowed me to start the process, but I cancelled it after a couple of hours because I wanted to try a different method (ERD Commander). ERD Commander didn't recover the files either tho :( So then I tried running this on my friend's Windows 7 laptop. On the 250 drive, it got 3/4 of the way through the 14 hour read and Recover My Files crashed with an error message. I tried it again and got the same error at the same point. So then I tried the 300GB drive on the Windows box. It got literally to about 1% and the program locked up. I tried a test run and cancelled out before the problems happened, so the program could then go ahead and recover some of the files, but because the run wasn't complete, the pictures were very incomplete. BUT check this out... I registered the program on the Windows box and then tried to register it on my Mac running VMWare (The company allows you to install on two seats). It errored out saying I couldn't install this on a virtual machine! BUT it was already running in trial mode! That means this program will let you WASTE 14 hours to find files and presumably another 14 hours to analyze the files, then it will tell you you can't use this program to save the files! BEWARE! I gave this 1.5 stars because at least it found and recovered a few files, however poorly.

  Summary

  I accidentally formatted my drive and needed to get my files back. I used 2 other programs (Phoenix, Data Rescue) and they could not recover the file structure, only the loose files, which is basically pointless. About to lose hope, I ran Recover My Files and it found the lost file structure! It's a life saver.

• Good product

  Pros

  Has the best interface of the ones I tried. Easy to use, a few clicks and its underway. Will take a long time if you scan an entire disk but support was helpful and when i used the skip button files came back of a dud usb drive in less than 30 min.

  didnt have any problems with this software

  Best data recovery program I tried. Purchased a key and saved files. All good.

  Identified bad files as good... wasted my money.

  It identified files that could be saved, I bought it and pulled the files off of the drive, but they were no good. The first tech support agent that I chatted with asked me to download files and I did. She realized her shift was over, so she just disconnected me with no explanation. Second agent tried something else but could not connect with the problem....

• Like the new features

  Pros

  As a long time and frequent user of this tool I like the fact that they actually listen to users and put some of the feature requests in. Good job on the gallery view for graphics, makes trawling through pics so much easier. I like the new interface. The validate option looks good and seem to weed out any corrupt files pretty well.

  None so far. Keep it up.

  I've tried all the others but keep coming back to this one.

  I have used several versions of this software in the past.Gives me confidence that they update their product and it actually gets better and better without including useless 'features' that you don't need. Recovered my formatted external drive easily.

• PRODUCT WOKS AS ADVERTISED

  Pros

  Software did exactly what I needed it to do, recovered files,JPEG, my computer crashed and lost all files. OS is Vista, so I ran a Recovery Manager to get computer to operate. Recover My Files is an easy to use software, downloaded from the internet without one problem.

  Cons

  NONE- this program just saved me a ton of money and apologies that I would have had to give!

  Beware! Bought this software at an on-line dealer as recommended by an earlier reviewer, ie.at RegNow, but the licensed key given couldn't activate the programme. Now regretted buying from them and has open a Paypal trade dispute with the said dealer.
