CNET Editors' review
Quicksys RegDefrag might be the prettiest back-end utility we have ever come across. The Web 2.0-esque design almost makes us want to take back stars from other Registry defraggers.
An Options menu lets you manage several settings, including checking for updates automatically, adding RegDefrag actions to context menus, and managing system and Registry backups. You can also choose from one of 17 languages, including Magyar, Arabic, and two that wouldn't even show up on our screen. This program does two things: displays your Registry information and defrags. The program performed without a hitch for us, although it did render our computer useless during the actual defrag process--annoying but not unheard of. Keep in mind that like defragging your hard disk, this kind of Registry work can take a long time. If you are using Windows 7, be aware that some people have indicated problems using RegDefrag on that platform.
By itself, the clear, intuitive interface would make this program appropriate for just about anyone, but since this is a tool for defragging a Registry, novices should proceed with caution. All in all, Quicksys RegDefrag performs to standard but shines with an unusually pleasant interface.
Publisher's Description
From Quicksys:
Quicksys RegDefrag is a freeware utility to defrag registry. Improve whole performance and boost access to registry. Registry data is constantly being written to and removed during a normal Windows operation. Over time this data becomes fragmented. Quicksys RegDefrag optimizes registry by removing gaps, fragments and wasted space in Windows registry files.
What's new in this version: Version 2.9 has improved 64-bit performance, improved debug engine, and fixes minor bugs.

"Does Absolutely Nothing"
Version: Quicksys RegDefrag 2.9
Pros
none--doesn't work
Cons
didn't work at all
Summary
I installed and ran the program, which was easy enough. I was then prompted to restart my computer, and I did. I decided to 'analyze' my registry fragments, just to make sure it worked. It didn't. The registry had just as many fragments as it did before I ran the program--13%. Uninstalled.

"Seems like a fraud"
Version: Quicksys RegDefrag 2.9
Pros
Nothing because it doesn't work
Cons
Everything because it seems to do nothing
Summary
I installed this registry defrag program in XP SP3 and I have to say that I think the program is a fraud. I ran the defrag routine and it said it was making 11% worth of improvement. I rebooted and ran it again. It said it needed to do the exact same improvements again. I ran it the second time and rebooted again. I ran it for the 3rd time and it again said the same exact 11% was needed. It seems to me that the program is either severely flawed or is just a fraud.
