Publisher's description of Quicksys RegDefrag
Quicksys RegDefrag is a freeware utility to defrag registry. Improve whole performance and boost access to registry. Registry data is constantly being written to and removed during a normal Windows operation. Over time this data becomes fragmented. Quicksys RegDefrag optimizes registry by removing gaps, fragments and wasted space in Windows registry files.
Version 2.3 adds support for Windows 7, new languages: Slovenian, Ukrainian and Arabic, and updated languages: Hungarian and Japanese.

- Version reviewed: Quicksys RegDefrag 2.3
Quicksys RegDefrag might be the prettiest back-end utility we have ever come across. The Web 2.0-esque design almost makes us want to take back stars from other Registry defraggers.
An Options menu lets you manage several settings, including checking for updates automatically, adding RegDefrag actions to context menus, and managing system and Registry backups. You can also choose from one of 17 languages, including Magyar, Arabic, and two that wouldn't even show up on our screen. This program does two things: displays your Registry information and defrags. The program performed without a hitch for us, although it did render our computer useless during the actual defrag process--annoying but not unheard of. Keep in mind that like defragging your hard disk, this kind of Registry work can take a long time. If you are using Windows 7, be aware that some people have indicated problems using RegDefrag on that platform.
By itself, the clear, intuitive interface would make this program appropriate for just about anyone, but since this is a tool for defragging a Registry, novices should proceed with caution. All in all, Quicksys RegDefrag performs to standard but shines with an unusually pleasant interface.

Version: Quicksys RegDefrag 2.3
"It is simple, it works. KISS"
Pros: easy install, works like a dream, does what it is supposed to.
Cons: non. (and I am now filling up space so that I can submit the review)
Summary: at last a reg cleaner that does just that, finds real invalid entries. It is not aggressive, all agressive apps fail to maintain a stable registry.
It is not advanced, has no special tools or features. Probably a bit better than the old M... read more >> -
Version: Quicksys RegDefrag 2.3
Pros: Fast, simple. It's pretty much Auslogics Registry Defrag, which I used to use, except it's free.
Cons: If you use Firefox, it'll reset your default browser to Internet Explorer after a defrag. That's the only problem I've found with it thus far.
Summary: It has a clean, simple interface which is easy and intuitive but may be too simple for the more advanced user who likes to have more control over the application. It bears a strong resemblance to Auslogics Registry Defrag, and runs in Safe Mode whic... read more >>

Version: Quicksys RegDefrag 2.3
"did not see any changes... and killed my wireless!"
Pros: probably does defragment...but without much effect!
Cons: Did not see any improvement in speed of my computer.
Had to reinstall all the driver of my Netgear PCI 311 wireless card after using it. The card was reported as "faulty" in device manager "hardware would not start". Reinstalling it, fixed it tough.Summary: I would not recommend this...
by the way... some of the menu of Outlook 2002 went missing as well... how the hell it did that, I have no clue!

Version: Quicksys RegDefrag 2.3
"Do NOT use with Windows 7 RC 1"
Pros: Not any in my experience with using it.
Cons: If you happen to use Windows 7 RC 1 you do NOT want to use this program. I tried it and it "destroyed" my Windows 7 RC 1 registry to where I had to reinstall Windows 7!
Summary: The bottom line is don't want to use this program with Windows 7 RC 1. I am using the 64 bit version of RC 1 and that may be the only drawback. But if it were me I wouldn't risk using Quicksys RegDefrag 2.3 with either the 32 bit OR the 64 bit ver... read more >>

Version: Quicksys RegDefrag 2.3
Pros: I've tried many freeware products over the years to defragment the Windows registry. This is the best of the lot as it works reliably and gets good results. It shows all the registry hives being defragged, and has a great UI.
Cons: I don't think there is anything negative to report about this utility.
Summary: Reliable operation, an excellent UI and fast operation show that the develop is working on making this a standout product. Kudos!
