If you've ever tried tracking down a process in Windows Task Manager, you know it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. Process Explorer makes the job a lot easier. This freeware utility displays running processes in an intuitive tree format that includes not only process names, but also program icons and other data, such as description, image, and processor time.
It also can identify the process for a given application window or look up a process name in Google--a handy way to spot spyware. Additional features offer detailed information on performance, DLLs, threads, handles, TCP/IP connections, security settings, and environments. Despite its lack of visual polish, Process Explorer is one of the best Task Manager replacements we've seen.
Publisher's description
From Microsoft :Process Explorer is an advanced process management utility that picks up where Task Manager leaves off. It will show you detailed information about a process including its icon, command-line, full image path, memory statistics, user account, security attributes, and more. When you zoom in on a particular process you can list the DLLs it has loaded or the operating system resource handles it has open. The top always shows a list of the currently active processes, including the names of their owning accounts, whereas the information displayed in the bottom window, which you can close, depends on the mode that Process Explorer is in if it is in handle mode you will see the handles that the process selected in the top window has opened, if Process Explorer is in DLL mode you will see the DLLs and memory-mapped files that the process has loaded.

Version: Process Explorer 11.33
Pros: gives you heap of information, very detailed, easy to understand, all in one window
process name, CPU, description and company nameCons: bit cluttered but geez, does that matter?
Summary: one word-outstanding

Version: Process Explorer 11.33
"It shows you what's going on under the hood."
Pros: This is a very comprehensive program that is not just an indispensible information tool but also can quicly show anything that should not be there.
Cons: It's a bit clunky, making the whole thing somewhat overwhelming and confusing for anyone but a guru. For example, tabbed pages would be nice. As would access to the relevant registry keys so anything the looks weird can be checked out further.
Summary: An excellent program that could do with some refinements.

Version: Process Explorer 11.33
Pros: track what processes are running
Cons: i like everything about it
Summary: love it

Version: Process Explorer 11.33
"Results dont quite match what it says on the tin !"
Pros: Seems to find a good selection of araes where you may require updates, upgrades or re-installs.
Cons: Reserved about the selection of updates e.g. seems to say it can update from MS Project 2003 to the current version free of charge. Must check the version numbers, in my case identified a current version programme as one a number of versions older
Summary: Some updates look good but some questionable results are mixed in there such as offers to upgrade MS packages that just cannot be free.

Version: Process Explorer 11.33
"Gives more info instantly!!!"
Pros: I'm slightly more knowledgable than a beginner and PE is great 'cause it tells me way more than Task Manager or Comodo Firewall at a glance - and I can understand what it''s telling me.
Cons: You tell me.
Summary: I'm keeping this one in case I have any problems.
