CNET Editors' review
This simple utility easily transforms a list of files or folders into a TXT or HTML document. The basic interface of PrintFolders wastes no space; every feature has its purpose, and you can customize the colors of the output HTML file. The program has both positive and negative aspects. On the positive, you can sort final results by name, extension, size, and date; include full file paths to the final document; and include ID3 tags, file sizes, and extensions. However, the program cannot see inside a file to, for example, read its ID3 tags. Though PrintFolders is not a complete file-management solution, professional and power users may find it irreplaceable for cataloging what's on their computers.Publisher's Description
From Stratopoint Software:
PrintFolders can save the list of files and folders into a plain-text (TXT) or HTML file. You can catalogue your MP3 music, photos, software and anything you want with a single click of mouse. PrintFolders offers three output formats: HTML, plain-text and unformatted plain-text (for spreadsheet software). PrintFolders fully supports ID3 tags inside MP3 files and has a lot of options for customizing the output files.
What's new in this version: Version 2.41b has fixed the Windows 2000 incompatibility issue.

"Nice listing of folders and files & easy to use."
Version: PrintFolders 2.4b
Pros
It is one of the few programs that gives a listing of folders and files, and the price is right.
Cons
The format of the printout is limited, It would be nice to have more options on the page setup like spacing, etc.

"Good -- It does what it's supposed to do"
Version: PrintFolders 2.32
Pros
It is a basic program that does just what I need -- I just need the file names in text so that I can print out a record of what's on the disc.
Cons
No cons that I've encountered.
Summary
I just needed a basic program to extract the file folder names so I could print out a list of what's on the disc, and that's what this program does.

"Should be part of the Windows OS right-click options"
Version: PrintFolders 2.32
Pros
I have always needed something like this, although I rarely use it.
Cons
Nothing I can remember.
-
"Program:excellent-HelpFile, horrid"
Version: PrintFolders 2.32
Pros
The HTML link to the original files is the feature I love.
Cons
The Help file was written by somone (like me) whose first language is NOT English. It ought to be improved. It takes a bit of experimentation to figure it out!
Summary
I believe users should download and use this product. There is nothing else quite like it anywhere else.

"Essential feature long missing from Windows"
Version: PrintFolders 2.3a
Pros
The ability to capture the list of files in a folder for documentation, analysis, printing and emailing is an important capability for anyone working in IT.
Cons
Still missing is the ability to select Excel or another CSV list format. Excel is the most widely used format for list manipulation on the planet.
Summary
Although flawed by the absence of an Excel option, whenever I need to list the files in a folder I immediately select PrintFolders.

"Great program"
Version: PrintFolders 2.21
Pros
I've also been looking for a program that would give me list of files/mp3s/etc. (Downloaded the trial, works just fine but little nagging reminders about purchasing/registering). Output info needs a little formatting but the program is very easy to use. Will purchase the program (I think its worth the small investment).
Cons
Output needs a bit of formatting depending on your needs. But, overall great program for a small price

"Decent, but no support for foreign characters"
Version: PrintFolders 2.21
Pros
I've been looking for a program that would give me a solid list of my mp3s for a while now, and this little program sounded like just the thing I was looking for - a simple, easy to use, file and folder list generator. It does exactly what it says on the tin - prints your files in the designated directory into a text ot html file.
Cons
But, and this is a big but, foreign characters (in my case Japanese, but in html files I've found accents aren't supported either) appear as question marks. This really blew PrintFolders out of the water for me... a lot of my mp3s just appear as ?????.mp3 on the list now, which isn't much use! A big shame, since it's definately a great program for listing directories with the supported characters.

"Excellent for doing what I wanted-create a text file of files in directories."
Version: PrintFolders 2.21
Pros
I wanted a program that could create a plain, simple text file of all the files in directories and subdirectories with their statistics (size, date, time). This program did exactly that. Works great.
Cons
I wanted the files listed in chronological order, earliest to latest, the program will only let me create a latest to earliest list, but I can live with that.
