No More Cookies

CNET Editors' review

by: CNET Staff on February 27, 2009

Would you throw out a fresh cookie? You might, if it was a browser cookie. Online applications place so-called cookies in your browser to track your identity, your shopping patterns, and your click history. No More Cookies installs a button in your Internet Explorer toolbar which, when clicked, displays a straightforward interface for sorting and deleting these cookies.

At first, every cookie on your PC is considered unauthorized. You can authorize cookies from trusted sites and delete unwanted ones. No More Cookies shows when each cookie was saved, the type of cookie it is, the last time it was accessed, and how many duplicates you have on your system.

Surprisingly, however, it doesn't block cookies from being installed in the first place. Still, given its freeware price, online privacy seekers may find this IE-only cookie manager a useful add-on.

"Fantastic PROGRAM saves cookies you want deletes rest!"

    April 26, 2009  |   By gmcjetpilot

    Version: No More Cookies 1.3.0.23

    Pros

I needed a simple easy to use stand alone free program to delete only cookies I wanted and save my GOOD or authorized cookies. If you go to sites with your pass word and data for what ever you want to save those cookies.

    Cons

I can't find any, it is perfect stand alone program for cookie management. Before you delete you can look to see what cookies you have that will be deleted and it gives you a chance to save some temporarily or permanently in a save authorized list.

    Summary

I got hooked on this idea of saving cookies and deleting the rest with a spy ware program that that was bought out and could no longer get. MOST clean your computer programs just CLEAN all you cookies. As I say that is a pain when it deletes info for sites you go to often that saves your personal settings, user name and even password. ONCE you saved your favorite or authorized cookies you can delete the rest very easy, but be sure to use this program. You clean all cookies with Internet browser they will all go. I love simple stand alone programs that do one thing very well, one thing I really need and use. The price is right but plan on sending them a few bucks. Once you save the cookies you want than deleting is a simple 1-2-3 deal. If all you want to do is delete all cookies all the time than you don't need this. But if you want to save some and clean the rest, this is the program for you.

NOT sure what happened with my review but LOVE IT LOVE IT.... This is the perfect program for me. I wanted something to manually delete cookies and save the ones I want to always keep. It is simple easy to use, does not block or do anything weird. It would be nice if it worked with a known bad cookie list but that gets into spyware. It does not matter. I keep known good ones I use all the time and delete all the others. To make your save or authorized list requires you to manually scan the cookies select them as authorized. Once they are on your save list they never get deleted. When you open it up you get all the cookies. Just select check all delete... all the new cookies you don't want to keep are deleted. It puts an icon on the tool bar.... LOVE IT! Simple and does one thing well, DELETES COOKIES (saves some).

    "Faster than the cookie folder."

    December 24, 2008  |   By Oliver_2

    Version: No More Cookies 1.3.0.23

    Pros

Easy access to a lot of cookies and simple to use. You just put check marks in the cookies and hit the delete button. This is nice if you want to re visit a web site just delete the cookies and go back to the web site you want to visit and you can log in again. And you can authorize the cookies you want to keep.

    "Not for me."

    October 29, 2008  |   By howardferns

    Version: No More Cookies 1.3.0.23

    Pros

    It uninstalled easily and cleanly.

    Cons

Click on Install and it quickly goes straight onto your C Drive, and puts shortcuts on your Taskbar and on your Desktop, all without asking.

    Summary

It is only any use if you know what the cookies it finds are. The ones I recognised were removed by either Advanced Windows Cleaner or Temp File Cleaner, without the help of this program. It takes a long time to check each of the others on Google. and even then you don't find sufficient information to know whether you should delete them or not.

    Updated on Jun 11, 2010

UPDATE: I gave this prog another chance. I deleted cookies regularly with it, and thought it was doing a good job until I looked in my xp temp internet files after a restart. This was cleared of cookies before I started using the software, yet I now found a number of unwanted cookies that it hadn't deleted. I now use the IE Cookie Manager in the Tracks Eraser of Glary Utilities, a few more clicks to get to, but it definitely removes them.

    "Very good privacy program"

    February 14, 2008  |   By 444LTM

    Version: No More Cookies 1.3.0.23

    Pros

This is a fast way to delete cookies that I dont want, with no more cookies it shows how many cookies are stored in my browser. Cookies can be deleted or authorized simply by checking a cookie and select delete or authorize. This is a faster to delete cookies, than going through the cookie folder to delete cookies one at a time.

    "No More BAD Cookies"

    January 3, 2008  |   By cyborg2029

    Version: No More Cookies 1.3.0.23

    Pros

What's not to like - clean, pleasant, all-in-one "pocket-sized" interface that simplifies cookie management. Not only free to use but there is an actual human being behind the "support" connection who gave me the key to easily and quickly eliminating my 1200 plus mess.

    Cons

Lacks annoying pop-ups, garrish labels, bloated unnecessary features and the newest pain in the derrier "register to use" dunning. Why, that's almost down right un-America ! ! !

Although I frequently go to the folders and manually delete the cookies I don't want on my computer, I will use this much more often because it is just so quick and easy to use!

    "Good but for IE only"

    August 7, 2007  |   By Zane77

    Version: No More Cookies 1.3.0.23

    Pros

No more cookies installs a cookie icon in the toolbar of the ie browser.

When you click the cookie icon it opens no more cookies, and it will show all cookies as being not authorized.

And it shows the name of the cookies, when they were last used and created.

You can check any cookie and choose to delete it or authorize it, it is a very fast way of getting rid of a lot of cookies that you dont need.

    Cons

it would be better if no more cookies could support more browsers, but unfortunately no more cookies only supports internet explorer.
