CNET Editors' review
Create a boot CD or floppy to test your system's memory, but novices shouldn't expect much help. Memory Diagnostic's first interface is a simple two-button dialog box to create a startup disk or save a CD image. Whether you burn the CD or create the boot floppy, the second interface is the same. Boot your machine and Memory Diagnostic's DOS-like interface presents just the facts. The program tests your system memory six different ways, all involving storing select characters in specific patterns to your system memory. The program quickly reads back the memory to find flaws. An old-fashioned spinning cursor displays test progress. Memory Diagnostic explains each test and lists test memory locations. Other than that, you're notified if an error is found. The tests repeat until you press a key to halt the program. Novices would appreciate a bit more information about memory problems. System administrators and home repair techs will carry this freeware executable to quickly determine if problems are caused by faulty memory.Publisher's Description
From Microsoft:
Memory Diagnostic tests the Random Access Memory (RAM) on your computer for errors. The diagnostic includes a comprehensive set of memory tests. If you are experiencing problems while running Windows, you can use the diagnostic to determine whether the problems are caused by failing hardware, such as RAM or the memory system of your motherboard. Windows Memory Diagnostic is designed to be easy and fast. On most configurations, you can download the diagnostic, read the documentation, run the test and complete the first test pass in less than 30 minutes.

"Does its job"
Version: Memory Diagnostic 1
Pros
Couldn't be simpler. You can go to sleep and let it run all night. I've used it twice and it found bad memory and said that good memory was good (unlike Dell tech support who told the person that they needed new memory because of a software message.)
Cons
There's not much bad to say about a program that works flawlessly.
Summary
Reliable, burns CD's instead of floppies like memtest. Does the job. Old school product, spinning slashes and vertical lines let you know it's working. impressive array of tests.

"I don't know how to load it"
Version: Memory Diagnostic 1
Pros
good reviews
Cons
I don't know what to do after I received the RAR files
Summary
of no use to me until I can load it on a floppy or other media
after reading the other reviews, I see I should just delete Memtest86+ and start all over.

"It works - I guess"
Version: Memory Diagnostic 1
Pros
Very simple. No response indicates memory is OK.
Cons
I don't think absence of a sign is good programming practise. There should be a positive indication that all is well.

"There are better programs"
Version: Memory Diagnostic 1
Cons
The only indication that Memory Diagnostic gave me that I had a bad stick of RAM (determined later using MemTest), was that Memory Diagnostic hung every time I used it.
