MediaHuman Audio Converter lets you convert files into multiple formats quickly through its highly intuitive interface. Everything about this program is streamlined, and converted versions of files play smoothly in the program or device of your choice.

Pros

Straightforward mechanics: You can add files to this program by browsing or via drag and drop. Once the files are in, just choose the output format you want, and start the conversion process. You can also add multiple files at once, so you don't have to wait for one conversion to complete before you start another.

Tons of options: No matter what output format you're looking to convert to, you'll be happy with the options contained in this program. Supported formats include AAC, AC-3, ALAC, FLAC, M4R, WMA, WAV, and more.

Cons

Extra steps: It is possible to select the destination folder for these files, but it requires a little digging to figure out how. In fact, you have to use the Menu Bar drop-down menus to locate Preferences, and then make your selection from there. Most similar programs include destination folder selection right along with output format selection in the main interface window.

Bottom Line

MediaHuman Audio Converter is a solid option for converting audio files on your Mac. Its streamlined process makes it accessible to users of all experience levels, and the number of output options means that you're sure to find one for you.

"Easily converted my WMAs to MP3s for iTunes use."

November 21, 2014  |  By NineGold

 |  Version: MediaHuman Audio Converter 1.9.1

Pros

Clicking on the "Download Now" button underneath the program heading (not the "Free Download" button on the ad for TuneUpMyMac at the right of the screen, very sneaky, that!) resulted in a quick download of the MediaHuman Audio Converter freeware to my Downloads folder. I drag and dropped the downloaded file to my Applications folder, double clicked to open the program, and was ready to start converting!

The entire rest of the process was simple drag and drop functionality - I dragged my WMAs into the MediaHuman Audio Converter window, selected the type of file I wanted them converted to from an easily understood drop menu, then clicked the convert button. Once all the files were converted, I selected "Open Output Folder" from the command bar "File" drop down menu, then dragged and dropped the newly converted MP3 files straight from that location into an open iTunes window. I am now enjoying all my music again!

--- Running OS X 10.9.5 on a 2014 Air

Cons

None at all!

Summary

I definitely recommend this freeware. If you're moving from Windows to Mac and, like me, didn't think to convert your WMAs to MP3s or other iTunes compatible formats before you moved all your files and got rid of the PC, then this program is exactly what you need to keep enjoying all your music!

"What I wanted and what I downloaded..."

September 28, 2014  |  By abcdsnrom

 |  Version: MediaHuman Audio Converter 1.9.1

Pros

No pros for this download

Cons

I thought I was downloading an Audio Converter program. What downloaded was a Mac Cleanup utilities program. Check the terms of service before you download. There were several Other boxes checked off, accepting that you agree to allow Yahoo to be used as your default application for everything.

Summary

The conversion app was never downloaded. Instead another program of utilities downloaded.

"Works well"

March 15, 2014  |  By tish369

 |  Version: MediaHuman Audio Converter 1.8.9

Pros

Works quickly, clean and intuitive interface, does everything it's supposed to. At first I was bugged that all the converted music was dropped into one folder, but being able to just drag one folder to iTunes is really efficient. Definitely download this.

Cons

If you want your converted files cleaned up into different folders, you might be looking at a little bit of work.

"It works for Apple Lossless to AAC 256"

February 08, 2013  |  By cbayko

 |  Version: MediaHuman Audio Converter 1.8

Pros

simple, free, clean interface

Cons

none for me

Summary

Hd trouble for converting some files from HD TRACKS into AAC 256, from within iTunes 9 out of 12 would convert but the other 3 repeatedly failed. Did this with the MediaHuman converter, and it worked first time.

"Efficient, simple, & non-bloating free Mac transcoding."

November 16, 2012  |  By timothynicholasjones

 |  Version: MediaHuman Audio Converter 1.7.5

Pros

Allows transcoding from WMA Lossless to ALAC Apple Lossless in m4a container.
Free to use.
Relatively fast conversions.
Simple GUI.

Cons

Allows you to select destination directory for file outputs but then saves new files into source directory anyway against your preference. Bug needs fixing.

Summary

The work around I've been doing is duplicating the highest tier directory. (Which took 20 hours since I have 300gb of music). Then transcoding the files of the duplicate folder while directing MediaHuman to remove the original files once transcoded. It's a messy and time consuming way to make the program work as intended. But the output file size of the ALAC lossless files are only slightly bloated over the original WMA Lossless files. And it's free and new so I assume it'll get better with updates.

Updated on Nov 16, 2012

Also, I should mention it does not utilize the album art 'hidden' files in the WMA album folders so the new .m4a files have no album art embedded in their metadata. This is a huge issue for me as I have 1000 full albums ALL of which have the correct album art (I sometimes had to insert manually by searching the internet). The albums are from different countries around the world. I did it right because I care. itunes does not care, and it is outright stupid when you give it various artist albums from countries other than the US.

Updated on Nov 17, 2012

After extra effort I found that importing more than 20+ files would result in the application crashing mid-way through some transcodes. And trying to import more than 50+ files at a time would freeze the application entirely. Maybe this will be fixed too along with the failed export function?

I have paid for Flip4Mac Pro and had no luck either. I have tried so many programs to do this it is unbelievable. Seriously, there must be something available for those of us that now have Mac's but originally ripped in WMA lossless and need to convert to ALAC?
