  Works just like windows Explorer and was just what I was looking for. Mac Finder is OK but doesn't give you a two pane tree view. I tried Path Finder, X windows and others but this is definately the best explorer out there and it has tabs too.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Any attempt to come up with something better than the finder should be welcomed, most have to agree the finder isn't that great, and lacking many features even Windows-Explorer offers, like keyboard controlled copy, paste &amp; cut. I like the ideas behind this app. But it's just not very well implemented. Especially the graphics. Aligning of text and icons is just awful. And you can't set a different icon-size for just icon-view. The app has many bugs, like walking (scrolling) up long lists using the keyboard: goes way slower than walking down. And it does not respond to page up/down and home/end keys. Just to name a few... 3 stars for the attempt! And oh ja: please loose the carbon thing, go cocoa!

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />This application would definitely make a Windows user feel at home. It has a useful feature set, though I have a few issues with it. One: if you make changes in the Preferences you have to launch a new window for them to take effect, though changes made in the View menu apply immediately. Two: it does not remember window size. This is a problem for me because I prefer a larger font size and the left column won't retain sufficient width to display file names in one line, requiring a manual resize every time I open a window. And finally, though this is not the author's fault, with the Finder window improvements in Panther, including the Side Panel, most of the advantages of Macintosh Explorer are gone, except for the occasional Windows convert. I didn't think I'd like it at first because of the size it added to Finder windows, but the Side Panel has grown on me and now makes navigating Finder windows a snap. So I have no real need for a Finder replacement.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I have used MacIntosh Explorer since Version 3.6, which I bought, and ultimately was disappointed. I tried the Beta version of 4.0, and gave the developer some feedback. I also told him that I was not happy with 3.6, mainly because of the slowness of the application. Well, the developer answered all emails, and also gave me a free upgrade to version 4.0, which was totally not necessary, but appreciated. The new version is a huge improvement. It is fast, and for new Mac users, it should really help if those users are coming from a windows environment, as it resembles the windows explorer in some aspects. This app is very close to PathFinder, another excellent piece of software for the Mac.
