"Fails to work with iMac with Intel, Crashes often"

May 26, 2014  |  By dehenderson

 |  Version: Mac DVDRipper Pro 4.1.7

Pros

Great promises by the company ? but none true.

Cons

No support by company. Company fails to honor its 30 day money back guarantee even though I provided crash reports and details of the failure of Macxdvd to work on a late model iMac.

Summary

There are other choices. This is not an ethical company, in my opinion.

"Slow, When it Even Works"

May 11, 2014  |  By scot629

 |  Version: Mac DVDRipper Pro 4.1.7

Pros

Pretty interface

Cons

Slower running on a quad core MacBook Pro than MacTheRipper running on a dual core G5.

If you're trying to make a backup copy of DVDs from Disney, you'll end up with a 70+Gb .iso file that won't fit on a dual layer DVD+R. If try to point this out to the company's tech support, they'll ask you to upload a copy of the DVD to their FTP site so they can "diagnose" the problem. Can you say copyright infringement? Then they'll tell you that's not their fault. Padding the DVD with phantom files is a copy protection scheme, and MacX DVD Ripper Pro is ineffective against it. Of course reading this web site would leave you to believe that MacX DVD Ripper Pro is a superior product because it specifically addresses ripping Disney discs, including backing up to DVD+R:
http://www.macxdvd.com/how-to-rip-disney-dvd-copy-protection-registered.htm?run.mxdr450
If you point this out to tech support, and ask for a refund because the software doesn't do what is claimed, you'll get more excuses.

Summary

There are better products out there, and companies that stand behind what they sell.

"Works until they charge you for an upgrade"

May 02, 2014  |  By thatkelsey

 |  Version: Mac DVDRipper Pro 4.1.7

Pros

This worked great! I was able to rip hundreds of old DVDs and personal videos and play them back through my Apple TV.

Cons

I moved and didn't use the software for several months. When I tried to go back and use it, my app was in trial mode and my license code didn't work. I was told there had been a "major upgrade" and I had to fork over $7 more to use the program. Sorry guys but for the $40 I already shelled out, $7 more and I'm switching to an app that won't charge me every few months for a "big upgrade."

Summary

I'm no n00b to the software world. Charging a customer $7 for a DVD ripper upgrade is lame as all get out. I could buy a whole lot of other way more useful things with my money.

"Didn't do the job"

December 14, 2013  |  By kamfalk

 |  Version: Mac DVDRipper Pro 4.1.4

Pros

Easy user interface

Cons

Program crashed many times just attempting to do what it purports to do.

Summary

In the end, it was a total waste of $30.00 because it didn't do any better than the free version - it would rip about 15 minutes worth of material, then crash, just like the free version. Then 15 minutes became 2 minutes. I finally had to download a trial version of another DVD ripping program with a limit of 5 minutes and get the rest of the material converted 5 minutes at a time.

"Mac DVDRipper Pro phones home to Google Analytics."

June 03, 2013  |  By zunipus

 |  Version: Mac DVDRipper Pro 4.0.7

Pros

It works well, within the limits of DRM (Digital Rights Manglement)

Cons

Mac DVDRipper Pro phones home to Google Analytics

Summary

Mac DVDRipper Pro phones home to Google Analytics.

The only reason to do so to my knowledge is to allow Google surveillance of my computer behavior. If your app is going to surveil my computer use, then ASK MY PERMISSION FIRST, DAMMIT. I have used my reverse firewall Little Snitch to deny Mac DVDRipper Pro access to Google Analytics forever. I suggest other folks with reverse firewalls consider doing the same.

"Absolutely no user-end encoding options"

April 15, 2013  |  By dvjsgedvkcuqyer

 |  Version: Mac DVDRipper Pro 4.0.4

Pros

So easy an infant could use it. A few clicks and you're done.

Cons

Can't make any adjustments to the encoding types before you rip the content. This means that you have absolutely no choice but to rip your DVD into their default filetype, which is '.dvdmedia' (a VERY silly choice on their part, since this is a MAC only format).

I ripped a DVD and have absolutely no information on the quality, codecs, etcetera. So, if you were hoping to be able to rip a DVD into a standard and simple AVI, it would have to be a TRANSCODE. Horrible program if you plan to share your content with other people (via bittorrent or otherwise) or if you have android devices, because you'll have to transcode the content.

Summary

This program is for people who don't care about the versatility of their files, and are only hoping to play their content on their own products at home (which have to be Apple only, btw).

"Mac DVD Ripper Pro was awesome"

April 06, 2013

 |  Version: Mac DVDRipper Pro 4.0.4

Pros

I just tried MacDVD Ripper Pro and it was awesome. It ripped a protected file and that's what I need. I want to watch my DVD TV series and movies on my Apple TV and this is awesome!

Cons

I use MacDVD Ripper Pro to rip my DVDs. It doesn't rip the full DVD content, but it's very useful for converting DVDs to mp4, m4v, and other formats so that way they're compatible with iTunes, quicktime, iPod, iPad, etc...

Summary

I recently bought and installed Mac The Ripper Pro. So far I haven't found any DVD it won't rip. Well worth the money and I just received an update which leads me to believe they keep the program current. Beats messing around with all those "free" to try programs which either don't work or only partially work until you buy the complete program. Being a cheap skate I played with all the free programs/apps only to be disappointed. Mac The Ripper Pro was worth 24 dollars. I'm sure glad my Iphone5 has a lot of memory as I'm filling it with movies and other downloads. You can download it from their web site. http://www.video-converter-mac.org/dvd-ripper-for-mac/

"very useful Mac DVD Ripper"

December 04, 2011  |  By zyp0426

 |  Version: Mac DVDRipper Pro 3.0.1

Pros

I have a good experience with it.

Cons

it is not as good as the one below

Summary

It has become a fashion to use Apple's products recently. I am getting along with the trend by purchasing a Mac. Due to its incompatible with these current mainstream of PC hardware and software systems, I am very confused to operate it. I borrowed a dvd disk from my classmate and I wanted to transfer the movies from this disk to my iPhone. However, my unfamiliar with my Mac made me feel awkward. When I was browsing the web one night, I unintentionally found a proper tool named Mac DVD Ripper which might be the one that I needed. I downloaded it free instantly. To my surprise, this tool settled my problem in a few minutes! I want to share my happiness with you who might have the same problem with me.

This Mac DVD Ripper is a multifunctional DVD ripper for Mac OS X software. It is able to rip DVD to various video formats and audio formats, such as MP4, AVI, 3GP, FLV, MP3, WAV and so on. The output files could be supported by all kinds of video cell phones and digital video and audio players and youtube. Of course my iPhone was included. This Mac DVD Ripper could also satisfy your customized needs with the help of these function buttons: "Trim", "Crop" and "Merge". These buttons will instruct you How to Edit DVD.

When referring to this process of solving my problem, there is another tool that must be mentioned. It is a quite powerful tool named Mac DVD Converter Ultimate Suite that contains four main functions: DVD Ripper for Mac, Mac DVD Copy, Video Converter for Mac and Mac DVD Creator. I had used the second function to transfer movies from the disk to my Mac. I was very surprised that the transferring process didn't affect the original disk's parameters. Now I will tell you how did I solve my problem in the next steps.

Step 1.Free download this Mac DVD Ripper, install and launch it. Hit the button "Load DVD", and transfer the movies from the disk to your Mac.

Step 2. Before ripping these movies, you could customize them as your wish in these aspects, such as video resolution, bite rate, sample rate, video encoder and so on.

Step 3. Click the "Format" drop-down list, you could choose the output format. In the "Output Filename" field, you are supported to rename their titles.

Step 4. Click "Start" button and you will get the output files in a few minutes.

Almost any portable devices could support DVD movies with the help of this Mac DVD Ripper. Have you become interested? Then why not have a try? You can free download it here, http://www.macdvdripper.org
