The ability to convert video files between different formats is important to users who have multiple devices. Vidsify Lite for Mac's periodic conversion failures and time restrictions make it an undesirable conversion program.

Vidsify Lite for Mac is a free trial version and offers a five-minute conversion limit. To unlock the ability to convert videos of any length, users must pay $2.99 for the full version of Vidsify. Download and setup of this program occurred seamlessly. The program does not offer any dedicated user instructions, but its interface is fairly intuitive and most users will have no trouble finding their way. Buttons allow the user to select specific videos for conversion. Along the bottom, check boxes indicate on which devices the user wants to watch the file. Unfortunately, there is not a separate drop-down to manually select the output format; but this is not a critical feature, especially for newer Mac users. In terms of functioning, some videos failed to convert and no explanation was given for the inability to transfer. In testing, most files converted quickly, and the output video matched the original in terms of quality. The program lacked the ability to modify attributes other than the format, which was a disappointment.

While mostly functional, Vidsify Lite for Mac's restrictions, lack of features, and problematic operation mean users should look elsewhere for a conversion program.

Developer's Description

Convert almost any short video into iTunes-compatible formats.
Vidsify Lite is the simplest way to convert almost any video file, such as those recorded on point-and-shoot cameras and cell phones or those that are downloaded online, into formats supported by your Apple devices and game consoles. Vidsify Lite supports Macs, iPhones, iPads, iPods, Apple TVs, PlayStation 3s and Xbox 360s. Vidsify Lite converts videos up to 5 minutes in length, perfect for short clips that you have recorded. Longer videos will be shortened. Upgrade to the full version of Vidsify to convert videos of any length. No knowledge of video or audio codecs is necessary, simply choose the devices your video must support and Vidsify Lite will automatically determine the rest. In many cases the video and audio can be extracted from the original file and copied into a new format that your devices can play without transcoding. This way no video or audio quality is lost and converting takes seconds rather than minutes. Vidsify Lite uses the H.264 and AAC codecs to ensure the highest quality conversions possible. Vidsify Lite cannot convert files protected by DRM (copy-protection).
