  Fails to backup!! I used it for FTP downloading of web sites, as I had with the previous version. New version, is just way too slow, 2 hours to backup 16000 files. I wrote a batch file using LFTP, which performs the same download and zip in 10 minutes. It lost connection and access to the LOCAL hard disks, not sure how that is even possible. Interface changes are clumsy and counter-productive. If you have a lot of FTP sites it's not easy to use. Reported my problems to the tech support about 6 times over six months, they replied, I sent logs, but no real replies or improvements

  Summary

  Stay away if you want a reliable backup solution. They have taken a half decent product and trashed it.

  Summary

  I have been a user of Handy Backup for several years. I use HB to backup the contents of an NAS drive to a 2 TB drive on my desktop that is only used for backup. I then use Mozy to back up the contents of the 2 TB drive to the cloud. I have been constantly fighting this software to keep it running. I am now looking for a different product because it has become so unreliable. I am currently running HB version 7.3.4. Older versions of HB seemed to have worked better. Several times, when I upgraded the HB software, I lost all of my tasks. Recently, half of my tasks disappeared. The program freezes very frequently, often daily requiring a computer reboot to clear. The dates of the backup files are the date HB places them on the backup drive not the date of the original file. Along with the backup files, HB also creates ".i" files with a 1KB size for every file

  Easy setup once installed.

  Cons

  No, repeat, NO customer service. Simply ignore email requests for assistance. If you have occasion to reinstall, I would definitely suggest just installing a different backup program.

  Pros

  Easy to use. Full of features, you have everything you need to keep your data protected. It creates default configuration for your data, so you just need to push one button to have it up and running.

  Cons

  For advanced usage it requires to create special tasks, which isn't a big problem, but takes some time.

  Summary

  I recommended the nice piece of software to my friends and my boss. If you want to forget about data protection, this is the way to go.

  - Freezes each time it runs - Keeps asking to re-register once a week - While it tries to register - cant connect to server most times - Cant complete backup to 100% - it freezes on 20% or 85% - YOu have to reboot computer to unfreeze it - Tech support cant help you much

  Summary

  Terrible piece of software (even after update to 7.1). I had it for 2 months and every week it was a different story. Different issue NON STOP. I got tired and disputed the charge. No help from support.

  If you reinstall windows or change the hardrivem you have to re-register the program. This does not work since they do not repsond to emails.

  Cons

  Reliable, versatile and simple interface.

  Purchased this software and had problems installing it. Support is NON-existant. Will NOT reply to questions. Kiss your money goodbye if you buy from these losers. I will be spreading the word far and wide about these thieves.

  Summary

  Would not install properly. Support responded to first couple of questions several days later and I guess since they have no idea how to fix the problem have completely quit responding. I am steaming mad and out the money I paid for this. You are throwing your money away if you buy from these people.

  I liked the program because of its simplicity.

  Cons

  I got this program thinking it would solve my problem of backup issues. To date I have it on two computers and it has always had errors during the backup process. I haven't been able to get it to restore what is backuped. Maybe it will get better with each upgrade???

• HORRIBLE Customer Support

  It is a nice program for the money, although they will charge you twice the price to download version that will write DVDs

  Cons

  I have recommended this program to many of my customers, and have bought probably 80 copies, I had a customer who had to reload there machine and was trying to get a copy of serial number to reinstall, Their technical support has not responded to 14 emails and 6 phone calls over the last 3 months, so just know your buying it as is.

One thing I learned is handybackup.com is an American company, while handybackup.net is an overseas company that an exact knockoff. remember which one you bought it from. The .com I know answer emails within a couple days nowadays.
