Publisher's Description
From Kelpiesoft:
Kelpiesoft Food File is for anyone who is interested in what they eat, but is particularly useful for those following a diet for health or weight loss reasons. Food File is a free food database and calorie counter for 1000s of food products. Searching the database is as simple as typing in the food you are looking for--the software will display a list of matching foods as quickly as you type. You can also refine the search by selecting one or more of the 24 food categories.
Selecting a food displays the proportion of fat, protein, and carbohydrate contained, as well as total calories and more detailed nutritional information. Also displayed are various 'food facts' that will assist people following diets that restrict certain kind of foods, such as low fat, low carbohydrate (Atkins/South Beach) or low sodium diets.

Version: Food File 1
Pros
Just type in the food you are looking for and there are many available choices of the food you like.
Cons
Only that I was not sure what the NLEA (this could be wrong letter) and did look it up on the internet.
Summary
Fantastic! This program gives me just what I need in the foods that I am eating. For a free program I don't think you could ask for more.

"Easy to use"
Version: Food File 1
Pros
Accurate and informative
Cons
Can get a little too involved at times.
It would be good if the user could add their own foods from an online resource rather than ploughing through everythingSummary

-
"Above its peers"
Version: Food File 1
Pros
The most thorough of similar products and at a price that cannot be beat! Quick, simple, easy-to-use.
Cons
A serving-size and measurements calculator would be handy.

"Nice dB of food items. Simple to use. Recommended!"
Version: Food File 1
Pros
Free. Easy to use. Good nutrient detail. Easy selectable search options. Nice pie chart.
Cons
Would like to be able to build my own menus which would draw input (calories, protein, etc) based on portion(s) I determine. I'd also like to be able then to port that output into different formats (calender, shopping lists, etc).

"Lots of info in an easy to use format."
Version: Food File 1
Pros
Good database and selection of foods, extensive info on individual items. I only wish that there was an option to view sodium contents, etc. in milligrams instead of grams in the main food view. The long list towards the bottom of each page does list the sodium in milligrams. Other than that, we're happy with this program.
