With FTP programs, we want to get a lot of bang for our buck. Unfortunately, FTP Commander Pro comes with very few basic features, and its advanced offerings are limited to comparing and synchronizing local and remote directories. It also includes a basic FTP server. You are only allowed to transfer files one by one and work with one FTP site at a time. The program can't resume interrupted transfers, which is a big negative in our book. You can't browse FTP sites while downloading or uploading, either. What's more, FTP Commander Pro doesn't support secure protocols or the ability to schedule sessions. While the interface is well designed and intuitive, we'd like to see a transfer queue and bookmarks. All in all, this is a middling FTP client that needs more features to stand out.
Publisher's description
From InternetSoft :FTP Commander is not only easy to use (you can pick it up in minutes), it's also a very lean application (657kb) - yet has all the features and power of it's weightier counterparts. What's more, the latest version of FTP Commander has been translated into 26 languages. The program offers a no-nonsense interface consisting of two side-by-side local computer and FTP server panels.
The program lets you upload and download data or delete one or more files, including whole folders along with subdirectories. The program includes drag-and-drop file transfer, pop-up help, and a context sensitive menu (called up by right-clicking the mouse). Our ftp client is compatible with Proxy, Firewall, Sockets 4, 4.5, and 5. And advanced users can work in command line mode. Plus all commands and control operations can be assigned using the log file. Version 8 includes unspecified updates.

Version: FTP Commander 8.0
Pros: Easy to install and easy to uninstall. Transfers work well. Conveniently grafical user interface. Fast and certain downloads en uploads. No problem or error found with this software. Because FTP Commander is total free it is sure to recommend.
Cons: Every time you open FTP Commander it shows the default local folder and not the folder you last opened. So you have to search with each upload and download for the right local folder to open in the right panel. But there are more FTP programs with this shortcoming. Maybe not for Vista according their website!

Version: FTP Commander 8.0
"This is a fast and useful program"
Pros: I tried CoffeeCup Free FTP but that had a few issues while this one has none!
It does not crash, is light on system resources and the window at the bottom of the screen is full of useful information so you can see the state of your connection.
From uploading / downloading single files to whole directories, fast and tidy.
Basically it does what you want from a free FTP program.
Cons: The fact that you cannot save the default start directory (but if you make a shortcut you can set the 'Start in:' section to where you want it - it works!) and again unless you pay for it; there are a few options you can not set (save) but for FREE it works a treat, thank you FTP Commander.

Version: FTP Commander 8.0
Pros: It works.
Cons: Too few setup options for even a basic user.
Interface has some bugs, like remote pane column headers do not match column content.

Version: FTP Commander 8.0
Pros: For primary use of FTP software it is wonderfull. I haven't tried to use it for anything else than uploading from my harddisk to my servers. So details about the advanced useage are unkown to me.
Cons: It is a little rough getting started, but when you find where to connect to a server, everything goes smoothly.
I found it in less than 5 minutes, so it is not that much of a bad feature.
