Error Fix works to fine-tune your system performance by checking for Registry errors, but the word "fix" is a misnomer in this strict trial version.
The application's straightforward interface uses large buttons for scanning, backup restoration, altering program options, and managing start-up programs. During testing, the program thoroughly scanned our computer and found a wide variety of errors such as the problematic Active X controls, invalid references to past uninstalled programs, and broken shortcuts. Errors found are organized according to the error type, but the program excludes any detailed information about the severity of each error.
The removal of errors from the Registry is off-limits until you purchase the program. Novices will find it easy to set up the Registry cleanup schedule, which allows you to clean your Registry at your convenience. The only noticeable extra feature is the Startup Manager, which performed well during testing.
Overall, Error Fix does a good job of identifying Registry errors, but because of the trial limitation, we are unable to comment on its ability to remove errors.

Version: Error Fix 3
Pros: "Optimizes" (see cons) certain things such as internet connection and registry.
Cons: I did a full scan with Spyware Doctor (very picky scanner; it counts harmless things such as cookies, it even admits those are sometimes even useful) and it counted Error Fix as 5 out of 6 treat level. Error Fix does little without paying.
Summary: It might be a legitimate program that just gets picked on by virus protection. CNET thought this. However, unless you buy the full version, not much can be done with this trial.

Pros: I can't recommend one thing about this software because all it did was cause me big problems.
Cons: It really messed up my computer. I've never seen a blue-screen computer crash before. Now I see them 2-3 times every day. I have written to the company 4 times and they are no help or they don't respond at all.
Summary: I asked for a refund but of course got no reply.

"LOADED MALWARE ON PC; SENT MALWARE OUT WITH EMAIL"
Pros: NONE--this download put MALWARE on my PC.
Cons: MALWARE ON MY MACHINE ALL RELATED TO THIS PRODUCT

Version: Error Fix 3
"Wipes out necessary items; loaded with spyware"
Pros: None. This program does not differentiate between spyware/maleware, but just deletes everything!
Cons: I PAID for this software. My computer was completely wiped clearn of fast-launch items, Active-X applications, etc.. Their Registry Restore , and XP Restore functions, and finally removing it entirely , made matters worse!
Summary: This is the worst piece of spyware on the market I have tried. It wiped my computer clean of necessary items, and even after a registry restore and a complete system restore, I found I could not boot up my computer, nor connect to the interent. Af... read more >>
