The beauty of Diskeeper is its simplicity. It runs in the background and when your machine is idle it automatically defrags, so that manually defragmentation becomes as necessary as a dial-up modem. The application is tremendously efficient.
There's scheduler, although the app contains a manual defragger so you can force a systems check. Other options will appeal to advanced users. Boot Time Defragging defrags your hard drive at start up, but also slows down the boot process. I-FAAST defragging sequences files in conjunction with the automatic defragger. Frag Shield keeps critical system files from fragmenting. Diskeeper keeps your swap file at the front of the disk, which makes transferring information considerably faster.
Obtaining Diskeeper isn't as simple as using it, and you must register for the trial at the publisher's Web site before downloading. The boot-time defragger adds the long defrag process to your start-up, so it may not be worthwhile to all users.
Still, the performance and functionality are superior to those of similar programs, and the user interface is intuitive. Diskeeper is well suited to users seeking better system performance and willing to pay a bit extra for the experience.

Version: Diskeeper 2009
"Looks like it does a lot, but..."
Pros: Has anyone done any type of performance tests to measure whether this program actually improves performance more than Windows built in Defrag utility? I would becurious to see the results.
Cons: Too many options for the average home computer user. Paying a decent amount of money for an app that may not do any more than Windows does for itself.

Version: Diskeeper 2009
Pros: I have been using Diskeeper since 04 in conjunction with Cyberscrub (since version 3.5) on my computers (custom builds) and laptop. My systems and laptop have been running flawlessly (XP and Vista) for many years and they perform as good as new.
Cons: None to think of.
Summary: Degrag is quick and unnoticeable, manual defrag is very quick.
Well worth the investment. -

Version: Diskeeper 2009
"Bloatware, doesn't support Win 2000"
Pros: Can't say, since it didn't run
Cons: One large package even if you only want defrag, hence big download, takes forever to decompress itself, etc., only then checks the version of Windows. Unlike what the CNET site says, it then announces that it does not support Win 2000.
Summary: Bloatware, doesn't support Win 2000, older versions that might are unavailable. Don't go near it if all you want is a defragmenter.

Version: Diskeeper 2009
Pros: Cost and background resources usage
Cons: I am unsure if I have to start it from the START MENU everytime or load it at start
Summary: I really like its ability to operate in the background,
