Publisher's description of Diskeeper
From Diskeeper Corporation:Diskeeper 2009 introduces system performance innovations so advanced they redefine what a defragmenter can do. Diskeeper defrag engines are so powerful, they can handle volumes with as little as 1% free space. Diskeeper 2009 is the only defragmenter with InvisiTasking technology, enabling defragmentation in real-time, with zero overhead. No fragmentation build up, even during busiest work periods. See for yourself. Version 2009 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

- "Defrag made easy"
- Version reviewed: Diskeeper 2009
The beauty of Diskeeper is its simplicity. It runs in the background and when your machine is idle it automatically defrags, so that manually defragmentation becomes as necessary as a dial-up modem. The application is tremendously efficient.
There's scheduler, although the app contains a manual defragger so you can force a systems check. Other options will appeal to advanced users. Boot Time Defragging defrags your hard drive at start up, but also slows down the boot process. I-FAAST defragging sequences files in conjunction with the automatic defragger. Frag Shield keeps critical system files from fragmenting. Diskeeper keeps your swap file at the front of the disk, which makes transferring information considerably faster.
Obtaining Diskeeper isn't as simple as using it, and you must register for the trial at the publisher's Web site before downloading. The boot-time defragger adds the long defrag process to your start-up, so it may not be worthwhile to all users.
Still, the performance and functionality are superior to those of similar programs, and the user interface is intuitive. Diskeeper is well suited to users seeking better system performance and willing to pay a bit extra for the experience.

Version: Diskeeper 2009
"Excellent product Diskeeper Pro Premier!!!"
Pros: Excellent product, pro premier version is highly recommended!
Cons: A bit complex, after some minutes it will be easy to use it
Summary: Highly recommended... better than perfect disk

Version: Diskeeper 2009
"CAUTION! Good to buy....bad to try"
Pros: Still the best defragger, especially for defragging paging file
Cons: May be bad news if you try and then uninstall. Pricing is arbitrary and a bit confusing--$30 for Vista Home; $60 for Vista Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise.
Summary: Do a search on "defragmenter not working" and you'll find that it is not unheard of for the Windows defragmenter to not work after uninstall of a Diskeeper trial. So...if you want it, buy it. If you're not sure, then be sure to set a restore point... read more >>

Version: Diskeeper 2009
"Hands down, the best automated defragger out there!"
Pros: Real-time defragmentation that only uses idle resources so it can always run in the background, cheap upgrades to newer versions, multi-licenses available for networks. (I have a small business network. :))
Cons: Must be connected to the internet to run automatic activation during installation. However, there is a manual activation feature available for users who have a system that is not online. Depending on the system, it can be a little costly.
Summary: Once you get the software installed and running, the last thing you have to do is... FORGET ABOUT IT. I had this software installed on my Windows XP Professional system and it has yet to remind me that it's even installed, but lo and behold... if I ... read more >>

Version: Diskeeper 2009
"Absolutely fabulous, but with an ethical catch"
Pros: "Set it and forget it" is absolutely true. My HDD is always in tip-top shape. Extremely simple interface and configuration. Optimizes MFT as well. IFAAST technology reorganizes disk for further acceleration.
Cons: Expensive (though worth the expense). Limited number of activations (may be troublesome if you reinstall Windows a lot), Internet connection required for activation. If it bothers you, it's a Scientology enterprise known for harassing employees.
Summary: First I'd like to make clear that I'm using Diskeeper 2007, not the latest 2009. But I'm so satisfied with it that I see no reason to change. I bought the Pro Premier version at a whopping $99 at the time, because I wanted the IFAAST feature (reorga... read more >>

"Used for several years, can't be beat!"
Pros: It works seamleessly in the background , you forget that it's there. I particularly like that it requires no attention from me.
Cons: I can't think of any
Summary: I said it all above.
