Glaryutilities' Disk SpeedUp is a free standalone utility that analyzes, defragments, and optimizes your disk drives or individual folders. It offers manual and automatic defrag options as well as automatic shutdown after defragmenting finishes.

Like many system utilities, Disk SpeedUp has a colorful interface with large, clearly labeled buttons and tabs labeled Defrag Show and Settings. The Defrag Show tab showed our two disk drives and their capacity, free space, status, and percentage of fragmentation. In the middle was a standard defrag map, while at the bottom of the interface, Disk SpeedUp displayed tabs with our three partitions, each with individual graphs and data. To the left, three prominent buttons let us choose Defrag Now, Auto Defrag, and Schedule options. We chose both hard disks and all three partitions. We could analyze, defrag, or optimize our selected disks or folders as well as pause or stop the operation.

Disk SpeedUp claims "smart" defragmentation methods that speed up and improve the process. We can't swear to their effectiveness other than to note that this tool is certainly fast. The color-coded defrag map gave us a good visual indication of the state of our disks. We could check for updates, but there's no Help file, though the developer's Web site offered some information. Under Settings, we could change the language, integrate the program with Windows startup and context menus, set defragmentation and optimization parameters, and add files to the Exclude List. When scheduling an automatic session, we could select defrag, optimize, or both.

There's nothing wrong with the built-in Windows disk defragmentation tool, at least nothing that Disk SpeedUp won't fix, first by dramatically speeding up the defragmentation process and second by optimizing the disk by moving large files to the end of the drive and other means.

Very fast analysis Scheduled scan started on time.
Cons
Promises a lot; but does not deliver.
Summary
This afternoon I have run this program more than 50 times. De-fragmentation is not yet complete on my first drive. The default settings told me how many fragmented files it found but de-fragmented none. Experimenting with settings finally achieved a partial defrag. None of the movies/large files were moved to the end as promised. A major disappointment after happily using Glary Utilities for a long time - maybe even since version 1.
Fast! but not as complete as Auslogics

Fast! Optimizer takes less than 5 minutes.
Cons
After defrag, Auslogics Defrag finds many fragmented files. But Auslogics optimizer takes a long time to complete.
Summary
It is like wiping dust off your wingtips with toilet paper. It is a quick fix, but not as good as true shoe shine. Good not great.

I am very much satisfied with DiskSpeedUp I am not obliged to go through the tedious procedure proposed by other cleaners! It's easy to handle; fast ( very much so!) and efficient.
They changed it. No longer installs on start up menu.

Pros
Can be set up any way you want. Some users say program can't be stopped at start-up, but it can by un-checking a box that within the set-up section. The program is flexible and is very fast.
Cons
None so far.
Summary
Overall this is a good program that works pretty well. It's graphic interface is easy to use and provides a modicum of visual progress. Can be set to defrag whatever drives you want whenever you want. I like it. It's simple and easy to use. May not be as sophisticated as some would like, but for the price, it's pretty good and very affordable.
Try to keep this off your start up menu?

I could not make this program stay off my start up menu. Every time I deleted it from my start up menu the next time I ran this program there it was back on it again.

I prefer programs that give you an opportunity to make changes with certain functions.

Does an old fashioned defrag and does seem to help on my system. Noticed a great improvement.
Cons
Do not like the way that after first use, automatically loads in start up. Can deactivate by running msconfig but, it should ask if you want it to start up.

Much, much faster than the generic defrag that ships with Wndows and for a free app it's worth the 4 stars.
Cons
There doesn't seem to be much point in having it load at boot time. The big blue "Defrag Now" arrow doesn't work and the tabbed panels at bottom do nothing either.

Fast. You can sit and watch the little blocks change colour while you have a cup of tea.Emailed Glary via the FeedBack link and got a personal reply. That's never happened before! GlarySoft do a whole lot more top PC apps for free.
