This program offers the basics in locating resource-hogging folders on your computer, but it doesn't offer any file-management tools. DirSpace's utilitarian window lets you easily choose a hard disk or specific folder to scan, and the results include the folder name, number of files it contains, and the size. Although the presentation is simple, you can quickly sort results and export them in numerous formats. Options are limited, but we like the ability to flag folders exceeding a user-specified size, which made it even easier to spot oversized files. And purists will appreciate the two options for defining a megabyte: 1,048,576 or 1,000,000 bytes. Unlike similar programs, DirSpace doesn't let you delete folders or view the files within them, but you can right-click a folder to open it in Windows Explorer. Despite the lack of bells and whistles, this freeware utility makes it easy for any user to find those monster files, and you can't argue with the price.Publisher's description
From Fresh Software :DirSpace is a freeware utility from Fresh Software that calculates how much disk space certain directories (folders) are taking up on your drive. Simply enter a drive letter or root folder to scan and DirSpace will analyze the folders and files within to see what s taking up the most space. Can export results to text file, .CSV, Excel, or HTML.

Version: DirSpace 2.1
Pros: not recommended do not work

Version: DirSpace 2.1
Pros: I wanted something small and simple that could display where the big folders were.
Cons: It's inaccurate. For a folder that had 12 files of about 5 gigs, it tells me it's only 921 megs. This makes the program useless, otherwise I'd give it 3 stars.
It could have a slightly more useful interface, such as the ability to display subfolder sizes separately and combined without having to rescan.

Version: DirSpace 2.1
Pros: Quick & easy to install and use, no nonsense. You can right-click to Explore (and maybe clean up) a folder, or to scan it separately. Try scanning *without* the option of "calculate each subdirectory separately". Then the ones that are iffy, you can right-click and scan. This lets you zero in pretty quickly on the major areas of disk space usage. I discovered a bunch of files in Documents and Settings on my C: drive which should not have been there, because my docs is a different drive. It helped me identify a maintenance need. A side benefit is just another view of your drives, to keep awareness up.
Cons: All it does is give you a quick overview of your folders, their size, and how many files are in them (at whatever level you choose.) If you are looking for something else, you won't be happy.
