DLLs are the nuts and bolts of software programs, discrete packages of code that are necessary for important functions, but are often left behind when software is updated or deleted. This program searches a PC for these orphaned DLLs, providing a list of those that no longer seem to be used, and providing advice on the danger of deleting them. The software can make backups in case a deleted component unexpectedly turns out to have been important, and can view the specific properties of each DLL found. In our tests, the search process took nearly a half hour, and considerably slowed our machine. The trial version disables the ability to delete DLLs. While this may be a case of too much information for the average computer user, we would happily recommend the tool to administrators and power users.

DLL Toys is a suite to find unused DLLs to delete, to view dependencies of executables, and to view running processes and modules. DLL Toys consists of Import Checker, a program to investigate used dynamic link library (DLL) files by executable files in your hard disk and find out which are necessary and which are unnecessary. It can also delete unnecessary DLLs. EXE Viewer displays reference DLLs and functions for selected executables as extended property sheets of Windows Explorer. Backup Manager manages DLLs deleted by Import Checker. Process Viewer displays information about running programs and used modules.
Version 2004 R4 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
