DAEMON Tools Lite is a virtual DVD-ROM emulator based on a SCSI miniport driver. It emulates max. 4 DVD-ROM drives and works with CD/DVD images created by many burning programs. It is great on notebooks without a physical CD-/DVD-ROM drive or to save akku power and speed up CD/DVD access. In opposite to other CD-/DVD-ROM emulators DAEMON Tools Lite doesn't use a proprietary container format. The advantage is that you can burn the images you're using with DAEMON Tools Lite right away or just test an image before burning it to see if it was created correctly. DAEMON Tools Lite works with most image formats. Moreover it has a special feature to make physical (burned) backups of your CD / DVD images when it is possible. It supports Alcohol120%-Images (MDS-Files) and RMPS-Media. It's also great if you want save Power on your Notebook.
What's new in this version: Version 4.41.3 offers support of APE image files; DT as a new virtual device is added to perform Basic Emulation; Improvement of portable installation; SPTD 1.78.

The software suggest to do an update because there's a newer version available. I've tried to update, then it failed saying that it couldn't write to file DTGadget64.dll or somethng like this. Beside this minor failure, everything is fine so i gave it a 4 stars which is not bad

Still a big believer in Download Cnet as I've had great lucj downloading cootie-free stuff here. Tonight my lucky streak ended.

It works very well I have two ISO's Mounted at All times. The widget is quick and easy to use.
Cons
The only reason I did not rate it five stars is the widget gets errors and I have to reinstall. Hoping the latest version fixes that.

"If you don't like using your DVD-ROM unnecessarily"

Pros
If you have software that always asks you to insert a disk into your DVD-ROM such as DVD courses or chess programs, Daemon Tools Lite allows you to run your program directly from your computer. All you need to do is to 'build' a complete image of your DVD onto your computer. Once you have done this, you can mount or load this image onto a virtual drive that has been created by Daemon Tools Lite. Now, you don't need to use the original DVD. The advantage is that your software runs many times faster directly from the computer than the DVD-ROM would allow you. An added advantage is that your DVD-ROM does not have to undergo unnecessary wear and tear as your original DVD has been saved on your computer.
Cons
As this is free software and it suit my particular purposes, I cannot come up with any Cons.

easy install. easy uninstall.
Cons
Program crashes when I try to do anything other than open it. Copy = crash. Create image = crash. Controls didn't seem overly intuitive... from what I could see. It really didn't seem to matter anyway as it crashed no matter what I did. And no this is not my first time using independent party disk burning/ emulation software.
Windows 7 ultimate 64, dual core amd, 3 gig ram.Summary
