Virtual CloneDrive is a free tool that allows users to mount disc image files and use them as if they were physical CDs or DVDs. By creating virtual drives on a computer, the software makes it possible to run ISO, BIN, and other formats without burning them to a disc.

Virtual CloneDrive provides an easy and convenient solution for people who still need access to disc-based content but prefer not to rely on physical media. With its lightweight design and user-friendly setup, it is an efficient option for mounting and managing disc image files directly on a computer.

Efficient and practical mounting tool

Virtual CloneDrive supports up to 15 virtual drives at once, letting users mount multiple images without hassle. It works with common formats such as ISO, BIN, and CCD, ensuring compatibility with many image files. The program integrates smoothly into Windows, allowing quick access through the right-click context menu for fast mounting and unmounting. However, its biggest drawback is that it only works on Windows, leaving macOS and Linux users without support.

The software is known for its simplicity and reliability. Unlike some paid tools, it avoids unnecessary extras, focusing only on mounting functions. This makes it lightweight and fast, with minimal impact on system performance. However, the program lacks image creation tools and is limited to basic functions only, which can disappoint users seeking advanced features. It is still useful for running older software, games, or backups stored as disc images.

Alternatives include Daemon Tools Lite, WinCDEmu, and PowerISO. While these programs offer more advanced features like image creation, encryption, or broader platform support, they may come at a cost or include intrusive ads. For users who only need simple and reliable image mounting, this software remains a free and straightforward choice. Despite its limitations, it continues to be widely trusted and valued for everyday use.

Developer’s Description

Emulate a physical CD/DVD drive virtually.
Virtual CloneDrive works and behaves just like a physical CD/DVD drive, however it exists only virtually. Image files generated with CloneDVD or CloneCD can be mounted onto a virtual drive from your hard-disk or from a network drive and used in the same manner as inserting them into a normal CD/DVD drive.
