      "Bit Player is a Lifesaver"

      November 15, 2007   |   By subluxation

      Version: BitPlayer 1.1

      Pros

this is iTunes for video! I looked for months to play patient education and testimonial clips for my clinic = nothing. then apple guy intros me to bit player = AWESOME

      Cons

One drawback = program hangs-up requiring a forced quit quite frequently. I don't know if it has something to do with the total size of the playlist (mine is huge) but I wish they would fix this glich . . .

OTHERWISE: 11 on the visual analog scale of 0-10

      "Terrific movie player"

      March 01, 2006   |   By MichaelAlderete

      Version: BitPlayer 1.2

      Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
BitPlayer is really an outstanding piece of software, the perfect application even for people (like me) who have purchased QuickTime Pro.

It's well designed, with a good looking and intuitive interface. The features are solid, and extremely well organized and implemented, with all the little touches that indicate to me that the developer is a perfectionist. The preferences are intelligently thought out, not excessive but providing all the choices I felt I needed.

In particular, two features stand out to me as being extremely useful:

      - Ability to create and save playlists of your videos.
      - Ability to play movies in full screen mode.

This is the perfect tool for running a video loop on a kiosk or other video display (which is exactly what I'm using it for).

      August 03, 2004   |   By Ryankop

      Version: BitPlayer 1.1

      Summary

Excellent Player. Does exactly what I want it to. Great idea for movie conversion, though just a small bug with exporting movies. Overall excellent choice of player, plays almost anything!

      "Video Jockey"

      May 07, 2004   |   By metryq1

      Version: BitPlayer 1.2

      Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I recently set up BitPlayer as a multimedia feed for a small studio. So far it's been able to play all the stuff QuickTime can play (including Flash, animated GIFs, stills, etc.). A Firewire output would be great, but since the computer's video card has a composite out, BitPlayer fits in as is. As a "video jockey," BitPlayer is standing in for several VCRs and a still storage device. Items in the playlist can be individualized with aspect, full-screen, speed, etc. A remote console puts media control in the hands of the director, and they all love that.

Truly incredible that an app this functional is also free.

      "Great Application!"

      Summary

Now it's perfect for self-guided training. Just drop a series of VTC, or other training movies into the window and off you go. I suppose now all it needs to to read VOB (DVD) files?

I still muse over WHY Apple's techs never thought to add a floating feature in QT6? What an oversight...but then, there's Bit Player! Thanks for a great little program, at the best possible price. I take it one can make a small donation...($5)?
