  Is it a zip or exe file? Windows Vista refuses to open it at all - says it's "an invalid file. The problem may be the way C-Net packages the file - the name shows it to be a zip file within an exe file.

  Summary

  Since the frequencies used are supersonic and most speakers only go up to 20,000 Hz, your normal speakers can't reproduce the frequencies even if the program does work. You need an output device that will reproduce ultrasonic. You might try running an MP3 or WAV of the sound through a frequency analyzer.

  Pros

  I used this program for a week, and NOT ONE mosquito came near the PC, or anywhere else in the house, road, or the entire County. I'm going to get another copy and run both, try and rid S.W England of those pesky little blighters.

  Installed a little too fast, the kettle hadn't quite boiled.

  I DOWNLOADED THE STUFF AND TRIED WITH MY PC SPEAKER NOTHING WORKED, I CONNECTED MY BANG AND OLUFSEN BEOLAB SPEAKERS LIKE A SPELL THE MOSQITOES COULD NOT BE SITED, THEY ALL DISAPPEARED, WAO! GOOD WORK.

  fast, fun download. seems to really repel skitters...I usually use laptop, outside at nite and now don't seem to have any mosquitos dive bombing me. strange but true!

  Cant really tell if it is working or on only simple pop up when you right click lower little icon in lower right hand corner

  Summary

  Regular spkrs will NOT reproduce ultrahigh frequency sound...insects are not affected by sound...insects do NOT have ears per se...ANY difference in their environment [like new sounds] will disrupt their behavior momentarily but they will resume their normal activities [feeding, mating, nesting] in due course.
