"Works like a charm."

October 04, 2013  |  By CPedersenGL

 |  Version: AlwaysUp 8.5

Allows access to the same functionality as other service wrappers, but with better options for configuration, checking and debugging.

If you have legacy software, or software not designed to run as a service, this product has a good chance of solving your problem.

Quick response to questions posed via. email.

Not a silver bullet. Have encountered a program that so far still won't run even under AlwaysUp.

In a perfect world you should not need software like AlwaysUp, but when you do, and you do not have the budget for a complete rewrite of a poorly designed (or just plain old) program, AlwaysUp can be a time saver.

"sweeping under carpet only makes your domain dirtier"

- false sense of security (feels warm and fuzzy - like morphine before an amputation!)

1. Doesn't resolve underlying instability issues
2. Introduces a system dependency on a new 3rd party module
2.1 that cannot be debugged
2.2 that may introduce new errors and issues into your system
2.3 that cannot necessarily be relied upon into the future
3. Further encourages bad system design
4. Further encourages bad management decisions regarding quick fixes in general. Problems need solutions. People need work. Clients need robust solutions. Managers need to spend the money and manhours necessary to achieve desired results PROPERLY.
5. Using this "solution" denies the workforce the opportunity to legitimately work an additional x number of hours. Ironically the underlying instability problems and system-wide bad design decisions will probably resurface as astronomical maintenance costs that the managers blame on their technical staff. Net effect is disappointed clients, technical staff that can't do their jobs PROPERLY, and managers that sabotage their own workers.

"convenient and easy to use"

We've been using this great little package on our servers since 2006. Setup is easy and it just works away in the background. Having it send emails when something goes wrong is super convenient.

Nothing so far

One of the few shareware progs that I have actually PURCHASED. It just works. Since installing it we don't even care when our crappy software hangs up, Always-Up just restarts it. Saves me a lot of hassle.

30-day trial wasn't enough

"Restarted the app, but did nothing when it was frozen or hung up. "

Does restart failed applications.

The corporation that I work for bought this thinking that it would stop and restart hung apps. We have purchased another venders product in it's place.

We have Alwaysup on 6 PCs running our mission-critical software (billing app). We have had virtually 100% uptime since installing. No more 3am calls for me!

Support is friendly and these guys knows their stuff.
