• Does not install on 8.1

  Pros

  none, except that it is downloads nicely from CNET.

  Cons

  Does not install. At all. When I run the .msi installer, it begins the installation process without any queries and without offering any options; continues for a moment, but is then interrupted by a note saying that the installation process is being aborted, and all changes rolled back. For the record, I have Win 8.1 64bit.

  nice idea, but apparently dead in the water.

• Watch out for adware when installing

  The program works as advertised, restores functionality to Windows 8/8.1

  Cons

  GoSaave, NextCoupo, and WebbiNG will mystically get installed even when opting out of addon software during install. I tested this theory 3 distinct times on 3 different machines, with this being the only new application installed. NOTE TO INEXPERIENCED USERS: Uninstalling one of the adware applications will immediately restart your computer, and install it's partner app. Example, GoSaave is installed, if you uninstall it, your browsers will close and your computer will restart forcibly. When you look at your programs on reboot, NextCoupo or WebbiNG will be installed. (It's a random rotation). Other symptoms include your background going black, as if you were being remote VNC'ed.

  Summary

  The adware is not the fault of the developer, but care should be taken when installing this product, and strict monitoring should be done in the days afterward. I gave 5 stars for the added functionality to Windows 8, and removed 2 stars for the sneaky install engine to generate ads for kickback.

  Pros

  Adds back the functionality that went missing when Win 8 came out.

  Cons

  Nothing that I've noted.

  Summary

  I've been using this since Win 8 first came out without problems. So far on three machines: homemade machine, Asus convertible, and Surface Pro 3.

  Pros

  it is substituting Win 7 Gadget which are missing in Win 8 as start button and other known function

  Cons

  app isn't stable, freezing regularly and doesn't response, simplicity is better than complexity :)

  Summary

  if you need it, install ti, if you are not missing it dont install it

  seems to work fine you can remove the sidebar if you want the widgets from Win 7 are here no other junk installed using the direct download link, just 8gadget

  Pros

  Excellent application work well with Windows 8. But after downloading Windows 8.1 this application is no longer working. Please update I love this application and would like to use it again
