This small desktop-search program goes where Windows Find does not, sniffing out files in archives as well as in directory folders. It can search in ZIP, RAR, ACE, CAB, JAR, TAR, GZIP, and ARJ self-extracting archives. In our tests, ZipScan consumed little memory and completed searches quickly. The interface is simple to use, though ugly graphics obscure some options. ZipScan supports command-line searches, but for casual users, the application's wizard provides a more convenient way to search. Simply specify the type of search, the search target, and the filename you're looking for. The program supports wildcard searches, and you can open or drag found files right from the results list. ZipScan could be invaluable for anyone who relies on archive files in a Windows environment.

Pros
Zipscan has helped me out of a mess a number of times finding cab files and others. Searches are very thorough. Price is cheap. The ability to extract is also handy. I found the product to be very stable and reliable. Speed is ok...
Cons
There are a few programs out there faster, but do you really want to pay considerably more for the sake of a few seconds?
Summary
Very useful utility

I totally disagree with the comment criticising the support - I sent a couple of questions and got a very helpful response within 24 hours. This is a really helpful program that has saved me hours and is far better than ArchiveSearch which I was using before but wasn't powerful enough.
Fair program, terrible (non-existent) customer support

Had a problem installing an upgrade, tried to uninstall but three dll's refused to die, could not deactivate them. Sent three emails to Foobar Software asking for assistance, none were ever answered. Had to reboot Win XP to Command (Safe Mode) and use DOS to delete the dll's. I switched to PKZip with total satisfaction. Foobar should stick to MP3 players.
Very useful
