Don't use YouMail yet, it hasn't been properly tested!

- No pros for me. My all around experience was not positive.

- Downloaded YouMail to forward an existing iPhone voicemail. It can't do that and the site doesn't state that. Uninstalled and voila, no account online and no iPhone voicemail. It took me hours to have AT&T to fix the problem.
- Summary
- YouMail is still in beta mode. It needs lots more testing and lots of bug fixes. Their customer support does not answer the phone during business hours. I sent an email via online forum, no response. Sent an email via normal channels, no response. Called during customer service hours and the voicemail said to call back during customer service hours. I left a message and someone called me back in about an hour. Their support guy has only worked for them for one month, so he didn't know how to fix my issue. This is clearly a young company just getting started and they have some loose ends to tie up. If you want to use YouMail for forwarding future incoming iPhone voicemail, it's probably fine. But in order to forward existing iPhone messages, they have to use a hacked work-around. An additional problem is that their deactivation process does not work properly. Once deactivated, callers receive a weird message which tells them to enter their 10 digit number. The message is so cryptic that noone can possibly understand that it means the system doesn't recognize the number dialing in as being part of the iPhone contacts and wants to affirm the number before going to voicemail. That confuses callers who then just hang up without entering their phone number to leave a message. And why should they. I wouldn't want to leave my 10 digit phone number just to leave a message. Anyway, once you've signed up for YouMail, the only way to get your iPhone voicemail restored is through the carrier. I know, because I wiped my iPhone clean, restored all the software, removed and reinserted my SIM card and still could not reconnect to my voicemail. Additionally, because YouMail is so new, the carriers are unfamiliar with their technology and it literally took AT&T HOURS to get my iPhone visual voicemail restored to normal. All in all, I would stay away from YouMail until they are a more mature company and have the bugs worked out.

- Love that it works on the G-1. Instant access to voice mails. Multiple phone lines can be directed to this one service.Lots of different pre made outgoing messages.Can make fully custom messages. Can listen via PC or phone.
- Cons
- Doesn't always sync immediately, and sometimes starts message replay over when it's only 1/2 way through. Not sure if that is a T-mobile, G-1 or youmail problem.
- Summary
- For a free service, you get a lot. Transcription is available for a fee, but I'm happy with all that the free service offers.
