As the search engine wars heat up, Yahoo has upped the ante by adding powerful spyware protection to its popular Internet Explorer toolbar. Similar to other search engine toolbars, Yahoo Toolbar blends pop-up blocking and e-mail functionality with its search capabilities to enhance your browsing experience.

The latest version no longer requires you to sign into your Yahoo account to change the look of the toolbar. The interface is completely customizable and fits seamlessly into your IE browser. You can add or remove buttons for various Yahoo services, such as news and weather, but you have to refresh the toolbar to see the changes. The pop-up blocker stops most ads and doesn't hinder normal surfing.

The new Yahoo Anti-Spy spyware scanner is an excellent addition. Our test showed it to be just as thorough as stand-alone scanners. It quickly scans your system and provides detailed information about any spyware or adware found. You can then easily remove what you want. Adding Yahoo Toolbar and you ad tons of pop-up Adware

Personalize bookmarks that you can access from any PC. Add custom shortcut buttons (even make ones to web sites not normally available)

SPAM SPAM SPAM!! Funny how the pop up blocker won't work when it's Adware they install along with the toolbar. Does NOT give you option to NOT have Adware installed.

This used to be a great toolbar until they suddenly added all of this Adware that pops up everywhere... very annoying to have to close windows and close and close again (2 or 3 for every window) I guess this explains why the pop up blocker won't work on all these pop up adware windows since it's source is the Yahoo toolbar. I even did an uninstall and reinstall to make sure no boxes checked or I didn't inadvertently agree to their Adware and sure enough, didn't agree to this spam, yet it's there when I run the toolbar, and gone when I do an uninstall. To summarize, DO NOT install this toolbar unless you don't mind tons of pop up windows trying to get you to buy from other than the site you are surfing. This is pretty low Yahoo!!

I downloaded the messenger and got more than I bargained for.

I didn't want any of the stuff it didn't give me an option to install. plus it had a virus.

Anti spyware did not load. It is not included in the apps. I deleted the toolbar and reinstalled it twice.

<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Aug 28, 2013<p/>Yahoo toolbar WAS great,however AVG secure search took over as search engine, plus many add-ons I had unchecked were added anyway, uninstalled toolbar to stop AVG and add-ons,now I have to use Bing toolbar. Yahoo did themselves and us a great disservice with this A/V toolbar.
