Xilisoft's Video Converter Ultimate is on the pricey side of premium video converters for home use, but you get automatic profiles enhanced for just about any device or format, automatic graphics card detection and acceleration, video editing, and more. If you watch a lot of video on your computer, a decent video converter is an absolute necessity. But if you also watch a lot of video on your smartphone or tablet, or like to make DVDs, or find yourself constantly saving bits of video for later, a decent video converter isn't good enough. You need a good one. The full-featured Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate is free to try, but conversions are limited to three minutes, which is plenty of time to see how the software works.

Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate opened with a message identifying our AMD graphics card and automatically enabling compatible graphics acceleration - a good start, by any measure. We could easily disable the acceleration with a click or two, of course, but we recommend owners of AMD/ATI or Nvidia CUDA graphics cards let the converter's built-in GPU detection take advantage of all available processing power, since it can improve video quality. Xilisoft's user interface bears a family resemblance to other video converters, but it's much better designed and rendered, with crisp, attractive icons and excellent functionality. The program opened with a Getting Started Guide: Step 1, choose a profile from a drop-down list with just about every option you could ask for, starting with the default choice, iPod. Many of the formats showed the AMD APP logo, signifying compatibility with enhanced graphics. Needless to say, we started with some of those. We keep a folder of sample videos for converting, which lets us compare both conversion time and quality. Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate's trial limitation kept us from judging its conversion speed - let's just call it "fast." Our converted videos played normally and with excellent quality.

Xilisoft is probably justified in calling its video converter the Ultimate. It's as least as good as the others we've tried, and better than most.

It works fine. It works for a limited time. It will ask you to register again. It locks. You are not able to register with the same key and become an un-registered user. The support is bad (they don't answer email). This has happened to many user already. I will never trust Xilisoft ever again. It's a scam! If you like a decent developer, look elsewhere.

I had a trivial project putting a menu on an MP4 to create a DVD. The first try crashed - could not convert. I tried again, and it "succeeded", but the DVD had bad encoding artifacts (flashes, bad colors) and worse, the audio sync was off by 2 to 3 seconds. UI is dreadful.

Complete waste. I will contest the payment if I do not get a refund.

Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate basically converts too fast and is not doing complete passes. The video is too smooth and lacks the sharp effects of the source. Black backgrounds convert in to dark gray type of defectiveness. I really think this converter is mainly for speed and not quality

I downloaded this software to convert videos which were downloaded from web. It seems to be able to convert any format videos. Better than I thought.

I bought the 7.73 Ultimate it was ridiculous to find an actual download button then I had to click the trial button and go that route.it installed as usual then I opened it to run and it promptly closed and sent an error report. I've yet to do one function on the program. I've tried everything to make it work. Bad software.

Shabby and shady Customer Service-I've yet to make contact despite 4 emails, and I am beginning to suspect dirty dealings here. I found out the money had gone to Luxembourg for payment. and I do not recommend anyone buying from these people. Save your Money. CNET needs to do a better job than this.I want my money back.

Is there any Free Mac version of Video Converter? So I just get Aiseesoft Mac Video Converter Ultimate at half price(30) from Maczot.com today. Their promotion will be hold for three days. The products clams that can Convert any HD/SD video files including any format of audio; convert any 2D video to 3D files; download videos from YouTube. And I'll try that.
