Editors’ Review
Execute scripts and create or run standard commands, but don't expect much help with this programmer's tool. Winsole's bare-bones interface is chock full of buttons, pull-down menus, and windows. What it lacks is a coherent help file or instructions on program usage.
Winsole can effectively run select programs, open Web sites, prompt messages, and even perform shutdown functions. You can run scripts as single commands, commands with subcommands, or by invoking external commands. However, it isn't easy for the average user to know how, when, or where to use these scripts. The command drop-down includes a tantalizing list of options, but the method to test the commands is to try them. That's a practice best left for the advanced user.
An input box makes it easy to simply enter commands, but it's offered with no method to police use. Winsole's publisher expects users to simply know what to do or suffer the consequences. If you have extensive operating system manipulation experience, this freeware might prove beneficial. If you are relying on luck to get you through, we suggest you skip this program.
