The Free Edition of Wenlin Software for Learning Chinese includes many of the features of the Deluxe Edition, putting many useful dictionary and text processing tools at your fingertips. Features listed below are described in detail elsewhere in the Wenlin User's Guide. The Mianfeiban (Free Edition) Dictionaries include lots of useful vocabulary including the hundred most commonly used characters and more: the twelve animals for the Twelve-year Cycle; the Chinese numbers and their English counterparts; miscellaneous additional Chinese characters and compound words or phrases, especially all of those occurring in the sample text provided. Altogether three Dictionaries with a total of 1,367 dictionary entries: 309 Cidian Chinese-English Word Dictionary entries [Note: The Deluxe Edition has more than 200,000 entries.]; 371 Zidian Chinese-English Character Dictionary entries [Note: The Deluxe Edition has more than 74,000 entries.]; 687 Ying-Han English-Chinese Word Dictionary entries. [Note: The Deluxe Edition has more than 62,000 entries.]. Mianfeiban (Free Edition) also includes: Wenlin's Dictionary Look-up and Instant Look-up features for use with the sample text; pre-made Flashcards and the ability to create new ones; stroke-by-stroke character display of 1,400+ common characters by clicking on a button. You can display over 80,000 Chinese characters with out complete Unicode 7.1 Unihan character support. Try inputting characters by phonetic Pinyin conversion (the Convert command) or by handwriting recognition (the Brush tool). Mianfeiban (Free Edition) provides phonetic conversion of Pinyin for single characters and for the compound words/phrases included in the Free Edition's dictionary. It contains a fully functional Unicode 7.1 (Unihan CJK, Pinyin, English) text editor: Open, Edit and Save your Chinese and other text files.
