Despite its lack of meal-plan features, this weight-management package offers a hefty array of tools for tracking weight loss and exercise. Weight-By-Date Pro's calendar-based interface helps users record daily food intake, workout regimens, and weigh-ins. Weekly development and fitness goal summaries are prominently displayed, and built-in graphs and reports track your progress. Other features include BMI and BMR charts and a body fat percentage calculator. A companion database offers a large array of foods with corresponding nutritional information and exercises with calorie expenditures. Weight-By-Date Pro includes many tutorials, extensive help files, and a wizard assistant to help with creating profiles and setting target weight. Unfortunately, users are limited to one profile during the trial. The trial would be more helpful if it lasted longer than 15 days, but users looking for a comprehensive weight-loss tool will want to give this program a run.

Expensive, NO support, now crashed...

Pros
The food data base is good, you can save your own recipes and foods.
Cons
There are some annoying bugs in the software which make it tedious to use. I have been trying to contact their support site for a month with no response. There is no phone number. Since I paid $60 for the program, I have continued to use it. Also, another con is that it only allows you to track 2 people. After logging a month's worth of data, the software has started giving me error messages which make it virtually useless. And now their website is completely unavailable. So, I will not only lose the money for this program, I will also have to spend more money to buy something else- I will pay more attention to support and contact info BEFORE I purchase from now on.
Summary
DO NOT BUY THIS SOFTWARE unless you like throwing your money away and being ignored. :(

Version 2 was really good.. Version 3 does not function as promised.. backup/restore of data from Version 2 does NOT WORK as promised on the website. NO TECH SUPPORT!! No recourse!!

Version 2 worked fine. Bought version 3 online over a month ago, and the promised backup/restore of data from Version 2 returned multiple errors... Website touts a phone number and email.. but offers neither. Submitted 3 'cases' asking for tech help.. received a generic email right away... "Will respond to your request in 2 working days" No further email response. Found an online customer service # listing the owner, Brad ...... Called the number, recorded message saying 'This is Brad.. I am helping another customer, Please leave your name and # and I'll call you right back.. No return call was every made. Submitted a complain to BBB and the Attorney General of New Jersey. Nothing has happened so far. Purchased over a month ago..

I paid extra for free tech support for a year and have been trying for over two months to get a response from tech support and have gotten no response at all....even though I paid extra for tech support., it is non-existent. I consider this fraud.

Pros
Easy to use to keep track of calorie consumption and calories burned. Easy to add new foods. Ability to calculate calories from recipes is a big plus.
Cons
Had problems with installation after using trial version, had to uninstall trial version, then install full version. Pricey.
Summary
I have been using version 3.1.2 for several weeks now and absolutely love it. I cook alot, and am able to calculate the calories, etc from my own recipes easily with this program. The food database is large, and adding new foods is easy. The only problems I had were with installation, I contacted support from the webpage, and they did get back to me within a couple of days, after I had already figured out the solution. It has definitely been worth the price.

the upgrade wiped ALL of my data - contrary to what their ad says that they keep it all.

customer or technical support is NON existent. purchased the product in March 2010 and still (Jan 2011) have not had an email or phone call returned addressing my questions. i upgraded and it wiped out ALL of the data i had entered for 15 days.

save your money!!! do NOT fall for this program!!! it seems that their web site is there just to get your money - which they do very quickly. but when you have a problem all you hear is silence. in nearly a year, i have tried numerous emails, open SUPPORT tickets and phone calls. Emails are ignored; you get an automated confirmation that they received the support ticket, but never get an answer or an acknowledgment that a human ever saw it. And the phone calls - they keep you on hold indefinitely (NOT a live person) and if you leave a message you never receive a call back. when i first tried the program it said that it was $29. you download the trial version and test it. when you are going to buy it, then find out that the $29 program is the OLDER version 2.96, the newer one 3 is $60. first i purchased the $30 version - because it didnt think that it could be so different - but they are like night and day. the older version of the program is useless. then, against my better judgment - the wife - convinced me to pay the extra $30 to UPGRADE. when i installed it, it deleted all of the data that i had entered for the past 15 days. it is a LOT of DATA ENTRY - as you are creating a database of the foods you eat like how many eggs, what type of bread you eat, bacon, milk, chocolate, etc. (6 meals a day for 15 days!) well, when i purchased the upgrade, they send me a link to download the OLD program again. and the web site keeps sending me in an endless loop from one page to another. well, today i tried the approach to tell the web site i needed to download the program again. now the web site says that they do not have a record of my purchases. i am steaming angry - again, not so much at the program, but at the lack of support for you ONCE they get your money with Paypal. save your money and your sanity. skip this one. by the way, paypal will ONLY refund your money if you do NOT receive a product - which in this case since it is a down-loadable software, their warranty does NOT apply.

It is fairly intuitive and easy to find foods, large food database

With all of the foods I searched for all I found were prepackaged brands. Search for pasta (any variety) and you will see Chef Boyarde (?sp) and others. What you won't see is Barilla or other dry pastas. There is a single generic dry pasta under spaghetti but that is all I found. And this is just an example, there are MANY more instances. Almost every food is some prepared meal you microwave (or bake). It got really anoying because I make most of my food myself. And I would be happy with only a single generic item under each category I searched but that wasn't the case. Maybe you get these when you buy the program and update it, but the purpose of a demo is to encourage you to buy it in the first place and I am not convinced that this is one of the best software packages. I have used others in the past that were much better. Keep looking imo.

Cons
1.) refused to accept my body "profile," but instead kept reverting back to the sample. I tried three times, then gave up. 2.) when I moved from the calendar to the diary, it gave me an error message and closed. Tried twice and quit. 3.) the program remained on my computer screen; I couldn't delete or remove it without rebooting. I removed it. Overall, a waste of time and effort.

When I use it every day, I lose weight, - when I don't - I tend to lose it. I work at home and it is best to record as you go.

Very Visually Organized, many of the features are far better than other weight/nutrition software that I have seen. A Food Planner and then an Acctual (because we are all human). Good tools, with the exception of the BMR (Basal Metabolism Rate), which I have some issues with.
Cons
Not all Information is trustworthy. I do nto have a certification in nutrition however my background and knowledge in the subject is rather extensive. The Metabolic/BMR on this software is not completely accurate beacuse nutrition is not an exact science (although its getting there). It's important to understand that any software is simply giving you "guidlines" and its more important for you to go on your body's response than some number in a piece of software.
