WARSTORIES is a mobile application that immerses you in several stories from Operation Market Garden and the Liberation of 44 and 45, set in and around Groesbeek and Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Caution: This app is location based and works in the Groesbeek/Nijmegen Area We take liberty for granted. We dont know any better, but not for the people living during WW II. To unravel what the Liberation mustve been like to witness, we offer an insight to the experiences of the people from that time. You dive into the story of Marielle, who fell head over heels in love with Canadian soldier. That not everyone was as taken with her choice as she was, becomes quickly apparent. You also witness the Liberation through the eyes of American para-soldier John Waterman, who vividly recalls the liberation of Nijmegen. And many other voices contribute as well. You learn more about the native Canadian soldier Big Canoo and German child-soldiers who were recruited out of sheer desperation. WARSTORIES guides visitors past 30 real-life locations that hold story fragments from the times of the Netherlands liberation. Visitors can relive the liberation through text, photos and audio. Visitors are also presented with a challenge at each location, which can earn the visitor artefacts from the war. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------NL: WARSTORIES is een mobiele applicatie die je onderdompelt in een serie verhalen die zich afspelen tijdens de bevrijding in '44, '45 in en om Groesbeek en Nijmegen. Tegenwoordig nemen wij onze vrijheid voor lief. We weten niet beter, maar dat was voor de mensen tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog wel anders. Om er achter te komen hoe de bevrijding gevoeld moet hebben, geeft Warstories een inkijkje in de beleving van mensen uit die tijd.Zo volg je het verhaal van de jonge Groesbeekse Marielle die tijdens de bevrijding verliefd wordt op een Canadese bevrijder. Dat haar omgeving minder blij is met haar keuze, komt in de verschillende verhaallijnen naar voren.Je maakt de bevrijding ook mee door de ogen van de Amerikaanse paramilitair John Waterman, die levendig vertelt over de bevrijding van Nijmegen. Maar ook andere stemmen vullen de verhaalfragmenten van WARSTORIES.Zo kom je meer te weten over de native Canadese soldaat Big Canoo, die met de Canadezen meevocht en Duitse kindsoldaten die aan het eind van de oorlog uit wanhoop werden ingezet aanhet front.WARSTORIES leidt bezoekers langs dertig locaties waar zich verhaalfragmenten bevinden uit de tijd dat Nederland werd bevrijd. Vanuit verschillende perspectieven kan men via tekst, foto's en audio de bevrijding beleven. Bij iedere lokatie is er ook een uitdaging, waarmee Tweede Wereldoorlog memorabilia te verdienen zijn.
