Though this newsreader requires the .NET framework for operation, it provides all the basic features for free. After a slow launch, Vox Lite offers a number of newsfeeds from various popular sites. The two-pane interface lets you choose channels on the left and look at headlines with short summaries on the right. You can open category folders to see a listing of hierarchically arranged channels. Clicking links in the right pane brings up the story in that window. The convenient tabbed interface lets you quickly switch among stories. You add feeds by right-clicking in the category in which you would like to add the channel. The two-pane interface is functional, but we missed having the standard third pane for viewing headlines, blurbs, and content all at once. Also, the interface often makes it hard to figure out which buttons perform what functions. Overall, Vox Lite's tabbed interface may satisfy users not married to the idea of three panes.
While I've had a few stability problems every now and then this software still manages to find a place in my top recommendations for RSS readers. It has an interface that is extremely well designed and makes working ones way through the feeds a far quicker and easier process than with most other readers if not all of them.
