Used QuickCast for Mac?
Editors’ Review
A snappy tool for creating screencasts, QuickCast for Mac can be used in sharing tutorials, documenting bug reports, and providing design critiques. It's lightweight and extremely accessible.
Pros
Fast and easy to use: QuickCast for Mac's toolbar icon makes the recording of a screencast quick and effortless. There will be a countdown before the actual recording starts.
Quick addition of introductory and closing texts: This feature makes this app a little different from other similar applications, and possibly more appealing.
Generates animated GIFs: Though animated GIFs are not an essential feature, they can be fun.
Cons
Limited recording time: The three-minute screencast will not suffice for instructions or tutorials that require longer, continuous recording. Of course, there's the option to join separate three-minute videos using another program, but it's rather inconvenient and it cuts the continuity of a tutorial or screencasting session. An option to upgrade to longer recording time should be available.
No hot keys: Keyboard shortcuts or global hot keys would be a great addition, enabling you to record screencasts more fluidly.
For modern browsers only: This app is intended for modern browsers and may not work with older versions of Safari.
Bottom Line
QuickCast for Mac turns out to be a neat, easy-to-use screencasting tool. However, each session is limited to three minutes only, which you may feel is just too short. This app could make use of an upgrade option, even if it requires payment.
