Designed to make video editing quick and easy, VideoPad Video Editor for Mac offers a range of professional video editing functions that enable the creation of decent enough videos. It works with most Mac OS X versions in current use, including 10.4.4, and comes with great audio tools and optimization functions.

Pros

Drag-and-drop interface: Working with VideoPad Video Editor proves to be quick and easy, thanks to the intuitive drag-and-drop interface. It looks just like most other good video editors, with multiple panels in the middle and the timeline at the bottom. The interface is generally minimalistic, with big and clearly laid-out buttons.

Small but potent: The application's 5.12MB installer packs a good amount of functions and features, including more than 50 transitions and effects, brightness and contrast adjustments, various video tweaking options, support for a good number of video formats (AVI, MPV, DIVX, WMV, MP4, and 3GP), and even the ability to create DVD chapters through bookmarks. It can even change video speed and reverse video playback.

Chroma key feature: Change backgrounds or juxtapose videos using chroma key in the same way some newscasts or old TV and movie school visual effects are done. You can choose different chroma key colors and adjust background and foreground opaqueness.

Cons

Relatively few transitions and effects: Compared to other paid video software for Mac, this application does not have that many advanced video transitions and effects.

Gimmicky 2D-to-3D conversion: The 3D stereographic conversion feature looks good on paper but is not really that good when you try it.

Bottom Line

Overall, VideoPad looks like a decent enough video editing and mixing application. Considering its small size, you can't expect an extensive array of features from it. That said, it does have enough of the basics and a few advanced functions that will allow you to create appealing videos.

Summary
All I want to do is ACCURATELY trim a video file, not create a mashup of many video files. Why is this so difficult to do on a mac? Open the file, set a start/end point, and save the changes. Easy-peasy on the Windows side of things...here, I have to open a project, import the file, place the file on a time line, fight with the time line editor, save the project before I export the project...come 'on, guys...talk about having a bazooka when all you needed was a hammer.
Exceeded every expectation.

Pros
I had zero experience with video editing, so starting with NOTHING I found the user interface intuitive. Free for home use (non commercial) use, I found it easy to include transitions, synchronized music, sound fades, text overlays, EVERYTHING I wanted to do. VideoPad has many integrated software solutions, one I just discovered last night called Debut for screen capture. This appears to be a stepping stone into a full suite of video and audio editing software.
Cons
I don't have enough experience with other software to be fair.
Summary
For personal use, if you have not yet installed and tested a video app, this is the one you NEED to try. The putz that's screaming that it's a trial, please ignore him for non-commercial use, it's free.

Pros
Was very skeptable at first due to the many supposedly free programs on the market, which you use then find only produce a watermarked output Haven't used for long (3 days) but already have produced a very passable video of visit to Disneyland. Been able to blend exposure from many different shots. Lightening, adding contrast etc to each scene. I was even able to too add a very good voice over using the text to speech. Only problem I found at moment is DON'T MOVE YOUR FILE AROUND ON YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE YOU RENDER, as they get lost. So lost the first attempts. This is not usual on Pc's but did no expect on a Mac

Could do with a forum site as when first using, i rendered and got just a black, blank square vidio. and with no contact address had to sort out myself . Has FAQ but limited to mainly install problems

Cnet is just screwing people because this is NOT FREE It is ONLY a TRIAL If you want to use it then you have to BUY IT UNINSTALL..... I want a SIMPLE, APPLE OS X 10.7> SIMPLE VIDEO EDITOR and CONVERTOR I remember back in the 80's having one on my Winblows 95 PC What is wring with people nowadays?
