Does not work on HD video

Pros
Used to be nice simple & intuitive (ver 1) eminently suitable for quick optimization of video for Youtube. Since releasing ver 2 ... not the case.
Cons
Videomizer 2 is so far 100% failure on AVCHD, crashes, or creates videos which play at x2 speed only ..... 100% failure to work on AVCHD (.mst) video files ... as used by Sony & Panasonic camcorders. ... in 2 yrs since purchase and it has not yet worked. Crashes PC, basic functionality which worked in ver 1 now fails to work. This has been reported to Englemann but they only respond about every 3 months to say they are aware of the problem, developers are working on it .... 2yrs is a long time to fix a 100% failure to work.
Summary
Might be fine if you don't want HD video ... but 100% failure to work on AVCHD means it is of very limited use. Many of features are now avail on Facebook or Youtube during upload.

Pros
I had Videomizer original and it was reasonably OK, certainly useful; for a video tweak & optimize for youtube. For that quick & dirty use it's fine. Not so for version 2 which I bought as upgrade

Videomizer 2 is so far useless on AVCHD video the standard used by most camcorders(reason for buying upgrade) ... in 2 yrs since purchase and it has not yet worked. Crashes PC, basic functionality which worked in ver 1 now fails to work. This has been reported to Englemann but they only respond about every 3 months (and only when pushed) to say developers working on it .... even if fixed now, it';s 2 yrs old and in vidoe software that is pretty old.

Pros
Can automatically improve/optimize/correct several problems often found in digital video footage. Very little (if any) prior knowledge of video editing is necessary. Allows the user to select several output presets or full customization for conversion after processing.
Cons
Depending upon the content of the footage results can be unpredictable. Doesn't give the user many options in terms of "what" is actually corrected.
Summary
As I mentioned in the pros and cons, this program attempts to automatically correct a veriety if problems such as sharpness, white balance, saturation, brightness, and unstable camera movement. In most cases it does a decent job, but certain situations can throw it off course. For example, I recently processed some footage that needed a bit of work but because the background was primarily white, Videomizer kept attempting to adjust the white balance resulting in it shifing back and forth from white (which really didn't need any adjustment) to blue tinged. The rest of the processing looked great but the background hue shift negated that because it was so distracting. That said, with most footage things seem to work pretty well. The unfortunate thing is, the UI only gives the user a few choices in terms of selecting what sorts of problems will be addressed. One of the two categories, "Optimize" sort of lumps everything except image stabilization into one checkbox. It would be better if the developer could add some selectable sub-categories such as while balance, hue, sharpness, etc., which the user could check or uncheck as needed. I understand that offering too many options might detract from the concept of "automated" processing however a few selections in critical areas would certainly "add" rather than "detract" from the intended objective. Implimentation of that would be a nice improvement for Version 3. So I generally recommend "Videomizer 2" but would strongly suggest a test drive with the trial version before purchasing.
