VB Decompiler is decompiler for programs (EXE, DLL or OCX) written in Visual Basic 5.0 and 6.0 and disassembler for programs written on .NET technology. As you know, programs in Visual Basic can be compiled into interpreted p-code or into native code. .NET assembly always compiled to just in time compilable IL code. Since p-code consists of high-level commands, there is a real possibility to decompile it into the source code (of course, the names of variables and some functions will not be decompiled). VB Decompiler restores source code from p-code as much as possible precisely. And after some modifications you may try to compile generated code. If a program was compiled into the native code, restoring full source code from machine instructions is not possible. But VB decompiler can help to analyze the program even in this situation as well. It contains a powerful disassembler and emulator. This powerfull engine try to decode most assembler instructions to most likely VB commands.

Pros
Must have for our forensic team. Supports all basic-compiled files (pcode, native, .net). VB Decompiler provide better decompilation than other tools.
Cons
We test VB Decompiler on obfuscated and dumped files - and it works! Even if the file is dumped and has broken resources and can't be start - VB Decompiler open and decompile it most times
Summary
Must have for any forensic research team. It does not comparable analogues.
Perfect tool to Native Code recovery

I check some free tools to recovery my VB6 app and all this tools can't decompile our large project with a lot of forms and classes. We are really wondered, what VB Decompiler can recovery code from large Native Code applications. It also supports external DLL and OCX files (other decompilers just use internal database and not supports exotic DLL's). Thanks so much to the developers!

Decompile P-Code to source! It's wonderfull! And this tool can decompile .NET assembly on Windows 98 without any framework installed. This is amazing!

slower loadup time then i exspected for such a small program dousnt just tell you the source it seems to go through a lot of junk the user didnt put in the program .And needs admins permission to use on some programs.not to mention cost $99 to buy which is rediculos for such a small program that only decompiles vb 3/5 over all would be 4/5 if it was free
