The "free" trial is painful beyond belief!
theBigK- Pros
- Only good because of pointer customization.
- Cons
- uPointer is a borderline utility worth, at best, HALF of the ten dollars they're charging for it. Worse, you will have an irritating reminder coming up every fifteen minutes from the moment you install it! Haven't they heard of a two-week trial?
- Summary
- Not worth any more text. It stinks.
Major CPU hog if using lots of screens

- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have a 17" powerbook, 1.67 GHz. uPointer works well, so I bought it. At work I have three 23" Apple Cinema displays (1920x1200 each) on my new dual 2.7 GHz 2GB RAM PowerMac G5. Two displays are connected to the ATI Radeon 9650 256MB AGP, the third connected to an older ATI PCI card with 32MB. When using uPointer, the system is VERY sluggish. Running "top" in a terminal window, the uPointerAg application itself was using about 4% CPU, but WindowServ was using well over 100% (both CPUs were busy). "top" reported "CPU usage: 98% user" So I switched to PinPoint which seems to work perfectly.
Ahhh, I needed this.

- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have an unusual degenerative cone disorder that's left me with ring scotomas in both eyes. One of the side effects is that I lose the cursor constantly. I've tried a bunch of other utilities, but this one works very well for me. It's worth every penny and then some, as I can find my cursor without having to relocate it to screen corner every time I lose it. If the author continues to optimize it, it'll rock - CPU/memory utilization isn't bad right now, and I expect it will get better. It's also nice that it runs as an app - it makes it quite portable as a result. Good job, and recommended for those who need it.
