Editors’ Review
TruVu aims to avoid desktop clutter by giving users one centralized location for managing favorite programs and files. But the lack of any kind of viable help feature prevented us from fully experiencing its capabilities.
The user interface was in the form of a small window that could be moved around. The overall design appeared to be easy to understand, with a tree-menu that displayed folders for favorite programs, files, and Web links. Menu commands at the bottom of the window weren't immediately recognizable, and required that we hover our mouse over each one to reveal its purpose. A constantly updating status bar appeared at the bottom of the window, but we had no idea what it was supposed to represent. From the interface, we could shut down our PC, access our Control Panel, and add or remove programs. But the other menu commands for accessing e-mail and screensavers were never activated. And as far as the tree-menu folders, we could never figure out how to add anything to them. Dragging and dropping files didn't work, and neither did double or right-clicking.
With no help feature to guide us, we were never able to see this free program's potential. Don't waste your time trying to figure out this confusing program.
