Support your military buddies practice conversations with virtual humans

Coming home from a deployment isnt easy. When a buddy is struggling with the adjustment, what can you do to help? How can you reach them? What can you say? Together Strong is an app for veterans and service members. In this interactive experience, you engage in role-play conversations with virtual veterans and service members and learn how to best help them work through the challenges they face after coming home. Specific practice scenarios include challenges relating to work, family, finance, Post Traumatic Stress, and mental health. This resource provides a safe space where you can learn and practice how to best engage in these challenging conversations and connect those in need with support services. The app provides personalized feedback in the moment, explaining why your conversation choices are good or bad and how to improve them. The conversation skills taught in this resource are based on Motivational Interviewing (MI), a set of evidence-based techniques for problem-solving and building motivation for change. Together Strong reflects a collaboration between the VAs New York/New Jersey Healthcare Network and Kognito, a leader in immersive learning experiences that bring about sustained change in health behaviors. The development included multiple focus groups with veterans and active-duty service personnel.
