  This is a great product and I use it on a daily basis. Don't believe the reviews complaining about bugs, those reviews are for versions from 5-6 years ago. The later versions are very solid and it is a great product.

  The actual compare tool did not work, as it could not connect to the server, while the main window was connected and was querying fine.

  Summary

  This was the most frustrating experience in trying out a product. I needed a database compare tool, and this one could not connect to the server while the main window connected just fine. The help says "This is an advanced task, and we do not have full steps in here", while not giving the full steps anywhere else. I spent about 4 hours trying to make work a functionality that is supposed to work instantly. A company I worked for in the past used this to generate sync scripts and 80 times out of 100 they did not work, they needed an hour or two of manual edits to make them work. From that, it seems they got to a point where the tool cannot even connect to a database. Save yourself some time and avoid the frustration. This product is not worth it.

• Very Buggy, Very slow initialization time

  This should be a very good software, it has a lot for nice features, very good "father" , Toad for oracle is a great product

  Slow initialization and first connect time A lot of bugs and exceptions during work hangs many times and need to be restarted. no support for the free version

  Summary

  Use it carefully. look for a better product or a more mature version. the commercial product has the same problems.

  After a long install process, you get an error saying "The Freeware period has expired. Please visit Quest's website to download the latest version." On their website Toad is not free, but Trial-ware. <p> <p>Misinformation sucks. Don't support this company.

  I was unable to get the software to work with NT authentication, then after going through the effort of changing the security settings on SQL and connected to the database, the freshly downloaded software reported that it was expired by -273 days and a "newer" version needed to be downloaded. What a waste of time!

  Summary

  I like the ability to navigate around the database in the Data Browser but I like the query editing (intellisense, srcsafe, etc) and other capabilities available in msSQLed. I've only tested against SQL 2000, if it works with MSDE would be great to give around as free tool against MSDE.
