Tigrinya is the official language of Eritrea and is also spoken in the northern parts of Ethiopia. It is a semitic language and is written with a unique Geez alphabet used only in Eritrea and Ethiopia. In this app you can see many common words used in the Tigrinya language. The words are written in English first and also in Tigrinya using the latin alphabet as well as the Geez alphabet for those that can read it and a picture is seen that shows what one is looking at, so knowing English is not an absolute necessity. The common word categories that have been included are the following: Animals Fruits Vegetables Food and drinks Sports Habitation and furniture as well as household appliances Numbers Calendar with weekdays and monthsMusic Colours Emotions Body organs and parts Family relationships Nature Transportation. The list can possibly get longer but at present time many words that are used in every day language are found here. When you clicks a page a sound automatically runs so that you can hear what you is looking at. You can hear the sound again by clicking on the sound icon seen on the page.
