  This thing quite simply does not work at all. It has not succeeded in converting a single file completely. At the most, it converts about half of it, but more often than not, I only get the first thirty seconds or so, and sometimes as little as five seconds. Troubleshooting is a farce: the only option is to send them an e-mail, which they promise to answer ASAP. Well, it's been twelve hours now, and still nothing. I've been cheated, period.

  Pros

  I used it to convert my old DV movies with my children to WMV for my Windows Mobile communicator, to MP4 to see on iPod and upload to YouTube. I also converted some big MKV to MP4 for iPod. No problems at all. Good deshaker/stabilizer for old movies.

  Pro (not free) version required to convert to MP4.

  I have tried many programs of this kind. For me, Sog video converter platinum and any video converter are the best than others. For Sog video converter platinum, it is very easy to use, and the converting speed is fastest in all, the interface is perfect, and for any video converter , the buttons are designed professionally, with powerful features, you'd better try the two above.

  Pros

  I used to use this program when converting WMV's to something more useful. My preference was to DivX. I love the fact that it has batch capability.

  Cons

  The DivX file it creates (using the codec I bought from DivX themselves) apparently isn't 100% compatible. While it will play with VLC, VLC complains that the file needs to be repaired.

  Summary

  I'm no longer using this program ever since I discovered that there is a filter for VirtualDub that allows it to (once again) handle WMV's. Unfortunately, VDub doesn't inherently have batch capability, although I suspect it can be done via AVISynth scripts (HUGE learning curve there).

  Pros

  I was in need of a video splitter with automatic scene detection, capable to handle my AVI (ffdshowH264, PanasonicMP2) videos. I have found only two programs with automatic video splitting: AVSVideoTools and STOIKVideoConverter. <p> <p>I have tried AVSVideoTools 5.6.1.715, but it wasn?t able to understand my videos, and it asked to convert the format. <p> <p>Then I have installed STOIKVideoConverter211.exe and, big disappointment, the software always crashed after launching the video splitting. <p> <p>I have uninstalled the program, and then reinstalled it. Miracle, everything was fine! <p> <p>I was able to automatically split my AVI (H264, MP3) videos in parts of arbitrary fixed length. <p> <p>But I needed to automatically split my videos on automatic scene detection basis, and this is a feature only available in the ?pro? version. So I have bought the ?pro? key. In few minutes I have been able to execute the automatic scene detection in a very perfect and fast manner, and then to automatically record the split video in different files. <p> <p>Conclusion: reliable, any crash. Automatic scene detection accurate and fast. Automatic video recording of split video give very good results, with files numerated progressively. Price of the ?pro? key very reasonable. Worth well the money.

  Cons

  To perform the automatic video detection, you can operate only on one file at time, opening it on the Clip Editor windows. Then you must manually close this windows, and choose the name to give to the split files in the recording windows. If you want to use the automatic scene recognition video splitting and then record your files, you cannot create a list of files to be processed entirely automatically.

• Easy To Install, works quite well

  Pros

  Easy installation, no issues. Worked the first time I used it. Was able to convert .avi files to .wma files, for viewing on my Zune player.

  Cons

  Sample views, during conversion, look quite distorted, but actually the final files are better when viewed after conversion is complete.
