Startup Control Panel for Windows

Used Startup Control Panel for Windows?

Editors’ Review

This tiny start-up manager lacks compelling features, but at least it works fine and costs nothing. Simply put, this program allows you to disable which programs run when you boot up your PC. The tabbed interface offers sections for applications and Registry keys that launch on start-up, but since the program offers little information on the applications, it's not useful for identifying spyware or other potentially harmful programs. Nor will you find an uninstaller, a feature that's common in utilities of this ilk. All things considered, Startup Control Panel only will suit cash-strapped users with very simple needs.

a Pandora's Box of malware. BEWARE!
swinefuzzMay 4, 2013
Pros
Didn't find out.
Cons
I don't know if Startup Control Panel works or not because I never completed the installation. It insists on installing various other crapware like toolbars (including MixiDJ which shows up in a lot of others freewares here on CNET) and who-knows-what-else is hiding in here, several in fact, with no way to opt out. CANCEL INSTALL.
Summary
I love freeware, but not this much. Not even close. Turning and running...

Updated on May 4, 2013
Also, I can't help but wonder how this got so many positive reviews by the community. Is all the crapware a recent addition to the program? (4 May 2013)

Pros
Easy to undo changes
Cons
Doesn't always show everything
Summary
I install this for all users. I don't want people messing around with MSConfig.... this is a much safer way to disable startup programs. It's easy to undo your changes if you break something.
Works Great! Very simple and easy.

If you have installed this and can not find it look in control panel since that is where it is accessible.

Pros
Nice view of startup programs, easy to turn them on and off. Good that explanations and recommendations are provided.
Cons
Seems like it does not pick up all the programs that are starting. If I go to Task Manager and Processes right after starting, I see a lot of programs there that Startup is not giving me options on.
Summary
I am happy with what it does.
Simple, Fast, and Effective.

Pros
Very small program that is extremely effective. Sits in the control panel and costs nothing.
Cons
None, I have installed this on over 40 computers and it works great.
Summary
I have been using this for years and it works very well. Brings up all startup programs and allows manipulation of which ones to keep or delete. It is a small program which sits very conveniently in the control panel. It costs nothing and there are NO ploys to get money out of you. I extremely recommend =.
