This space-shooter boasts excellent graphics, but the trial restriction ensures most gamers won't find it exciting for very long. As in other games of this ilk, you find yourself behind the wheel of a spacecraft tasked with the destruction of your foes. The 3D third-person graphics looked outstanding to us, the explosions and sound effects were realistic, and the background scenery was especially well-designed. Starship Assault lets you adjust the sound volume, reconfigure the controls, and play in full-screen or windowed modes. We were having a good time blasting away with this game, but after we blew through the first three missions in about 15 minutes, we were disappointed to learn the demo wouldn't let us go any deeper. If not for that issue, Starship Assault would appeal to a wider range of players, but as it stands, we'd suggest this game for only novices and children.
