If you're looking for a free browser with all sorts of bells and whistles, look elsewhere. Simplicity is the name of the game with Square1 Web Browser.

This browser's simple, straightforward design will appeal to users who want the bare minimum of options. It worked well during our tests, but one concern was its puzzling search engine results. First things first, though, Square1 has the most basic of navigational buttons and no settings options. Even so, our search results came back to us very quickly, and Web pages downloaded without interruption. We were also able to bookmark our favorite Web pages with the click of a button. Using the provided search box, we found the hierarchy of our results a little odd. The results were very random and often didn't seem to pertain to our search. On another note, the program didn't automatically add shortcuts to the desktop or Start menu, and could only be accessed through its folder in Program Files. You can always create your own desktop shortcut, but most programs offer at least one quick way to launch without digging through Windows Explorer.

If you're a minimalist at heart, this freeware browser might appeal, but it offers nothing that will lure away users accustomed to the flexibility of Firefox or IE.

Pros
Easy to use, and functional. Nice looking.
Cons
The search engine no longer works. The browser automatically defaults to the click2web site as the home page. One cannot change the Home page. The browser gets some script errors.
Summary
This is not a modern browser. It is an easy to use lightweight browser for Windows 98 users who are willing to put up with the limitations that the browser has. The search engine not working is a terrible part of this browser, as it defaults to the broken search engine as the home page. The idea of reverse engineering to change the home site is against the license contract. Still, one can add favorites, (not Google, some script errors, but Bing works well), for searches. For Windows 95/98/ME users that have made a decision not to use Kernelex this browser is very functional and easy to use! It is certainly better than any Explorer product below IE7! Compared with IE6 this browser wins hands down, no doubt about it. Compared with other non-Kernelex browser for Fat32 Square 1 hangs in there only losing to Firefox 2.0 and SeaMonkey 1.19. Just use as basic searches. Still a good product despite problems. CNET's review is accurate for the most part.

The only problem is nothing would work, sreach, help, any and all controls, it just sat there.
