Spartan Lite Multi Clipboard replaces the built-in Windows Clipboard with one that saves and pastes multiple clips, previews clips for easy identification, and includes useful extras like backup and restore, password protection, direct pasting from your picture files, and a built-in Year Planner. Spartan Lite Multi Clipboard is a free version of Spartan Clipboard and comes with some limitations, such as the number of clips per Sheet.

Pros

Advanced paste: Spartan Lite's Paste menu offers numerous specialized functions like Plain Text Processing, Cases, and Custom Buttons.

Pictures: You can browse and paste directly from image files or a particular Sheet.

Previews: Pop-up previews appear when you hover the cursor over any cell. Cells can hold multiple clips.

Tools: A basic but competent Year Planner comes with Spartan Lite. Other extras include Capturing, Clipboard History Recording, Fonts, and Backup and Restore.

Cons

Limits and versions: Spartan Lite Multi Clipboard is one of several freeware versions of Spartan Clipboard and comes with various restrictions over the premium software, such as clips saved. The free versions aren't totally identical, yet all can be upgraded to the premium Spartan Clipboard.

Bottom Line

Replacing the Windows Clipboard with better freeware just makes good sense. If you need to save more clips than the freeware can handle, Spartan Clipboard is available. But we find Spartan Lite Multi Clipboard (and its cousins) more than enough of an upgrade.

What’s new in version 22.08

Version 22.08: Bug Fix: Rename dialogs now start at the correct size on multi-monitor systems with monitors of different scale. When entering your password, the Enter key now cancels if no password has been entered and proceeds if one has been entered.

Please ignore the review by marioborcr. Ge has obviously downloaded the Trial version of Spartan and not the Lite Version which, incidentally, is really rather useful!

Pros
Minimal keystrokes/mouse clicks are needed to do things. Hover-view: Hover over the name of a clip and a large thumbnail with the image is shown. Hover-help: Hover over a term in one of the options panes and you get an instant explanation of that term. Batch paste: Paste multiple clips to an open document (great when writing an installation document holding many screen shots). Many other options I have not yet investigated.

- Could not find if/how to show a time/date the snapshots were taken - Could not find if/how to order the snapshots on time/date taken, or on name given.

Excellent multi-clipboard, store any data type, then use your saved clips as you wish; saved a web address? click on the text to paste the url(address) as text or hover your mouse over the text and a Grey button will appear to the right, click on it and the webpage opens in your browser. Do the same with, e-mail, folders and pictures, if you have a fax modem installed it will even dial numbers for you, all you've got to do is copy, you can even retrieve clips you have deleted, if you want....

None, couldn't fault this ingenious little app. I was so impressed I bought the full version

Pros
(Windows 7 64 bit) I've been using it for about a month (had it's predecessor M8) - fantastic product especially for storing/copying text where as with M8 I haven't experienced any problems. The concept is very straight forward and easy to learn/use.
Cons
I sometimes struggle with copying graphic content from web pages but have no problems with my own j-pegs.
Summary
Sept 2011 - The 'lite' version is free and stores up to 250 'clips' which has proven to be enough for my uses. You can pay and upgrade for more clips or get a portable versions or a U3 drive version. My biggest nag is with M8 software's website which isn't very user friendly in terms of comparing versions and pricing them. You have to do quite a bit of digging through different links to find this information. Another plus is that there are quite e few youtube videos showing with how to use the programme should you need. Once again - really good.

This is a superb and extremely useful piece of software. After only a couple of days use, I'm not sure how I managed without it! A simple idea, put to use remarkably effectively . . . there are so many uses for this, it's just incredible.
Cons
The only bad thing about this is that I'm now tempted to fork out for the "Heavy" version.

1st, I really like Spartan. It actually works. All other competitive products I have tried (about 4 or 5) at some point fail to recognize ctl-c for some reason. I have also found uses for it that I had not anticipated. Features like seeing the entire clipboard, being able to edit - really nice. And I can arrange displays in ways that work for me. I tried a bunch - Spartan is by far the best with no closed second.
